The Zebra CR8178-SC100F4WW is the standard Bluetooth charging and communication cradle for the DS8178 and DS4678 cordless barcode scanners, in Midnight Black, for checkouts, counters and workstations that need a cordless scanner talking to a PC or POS.
The cradle charges the scanner and acts as its Bluetooth base, passing scans to the host over USB, RS232, keyboard wedge or TGCS (IBM) 46XX. It works on a desk, on a wall or on a mobile cart, with two adjustments for vertical or horizontal mounting. This is the FIPS version for worldwide (WW) markets.
Before you order: The cradle ships without a host cable and without a power supply. You need a Zebra host cable for your interface (USB, RS232 etc.). It can run on USB host power; for faster charging Zebra recommends an external supply, which works only with host cables that have a power jack.

- 1 × Zebra CR8178-SC standard cradle (no power supply, host cable, mounts or fasteners included)
What It Means in Practice
- Scan up to 100 m from the cradle in open space with a Class 1 connection (10 m with Class 2) — enough for a stockroom next to the till.
- Pairing is done by placing the scanner in the cradle; scans then go to the PC through the cradle's host cable.
- Over USB host power a PowerPrecision+ battery takes about 9 hours from empty; with a PowerCap model about 30 minutes.
- For wall mounting use two M4 screws (45.5 mm apart) or the two keyholes (81 mm apart); Zebra adhesive strips FAST-PC0081W-Q1 and the DS6878 adapter plate BRKT-AP0081W-04 are optional.
What Will Not Work
- It does not work with the corded DS8108 — that scanner has its own cable.
- It will not connect to the host without a Zebra host cable, which is sold separately.
- It is not the Presentation Cradle (CR8178-PC) used for hands-free scanning.
- It is not the Toshiba TGCS 4690 version (CR8178-SC100T4WW) or the healthcare white version.
