Zebra P1080383-413 Platen Roller 203 dpi for ZD420d / ZD620d
Genuine Zebra partZD420d · ZD620d203 dpiTool-free swap
The Zebra P1080383-413 is the genuine 203 dpi platen (drive) roller for the Zebra ZD420d and ZD620d 4-inch direct thermal desktop label printers, for standard labels on a liner. It is the rubber roller under the printhead that drives the media and presses it against the printhead.
Zebra describes the ZD420 / ZD620 as having tool-free replacement for printheads and platen rollers, so this is a part you can change at the counter. Replace it when labels slip, skew or jam even after the roller has been cleaned, or when the rubber is cut or glazed.
Before you order: Match resolution and media: this is the 203 dpi roller for linered labels. 300 dpi printers use P1080383-414, ZD620d linerless models use P1080383-435 / -436, thermal transfer ZD420t uses P1080383-222, and the ZD421d uses P1112640-061. Zebra warns not to exchange platen types unless instructed.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Zebra platen roller P1080383-413 (203 dpi)
- Bearings are a separate Zebra part (P1080383-224) — reuse the old ones if they are in good condition
What It Means in Practice
- Labels feed straight again and the printhead gets even pressure, so barcodes print solid edge to edge.
- Tool-free: the ZD420 / ZD620 user guide shows the platen being released and lifted out by hand.
- Clean the old roller with isopropyl alcohol first; if jams or slipping continue, fit the new one.
What Will Not Work
- It will not fit 300 dpi ZD420d / ZD620d printers — they need P1080383-414.
- It is not for ZD620d linerless printers (P1080383-435 / -436) or for linerless media.
- It will not fit the ZD420t / ZD620t thermal transfer models, the ZD421 series, ZD410 or G-Series printers.
- It will not fix fixed white lines caused by a damaged printhead.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I tell 203 dpi from 300 dpi?
The configuration label (hold the Feed button at power-up or print a config report) and the label under the printer show the resolution. This roller is for 203 dpi.
Will it fit my ZD620d with linerless labels?
No. Zebra uses dedicated linerless platens (P1080383-435 / -436) on linerless ZD620d models.
Do I need new bearings?
Only if the old bearings are worn or cracked. Zebra sells them as P1080383-224 (10 left + 10 right).
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
On 4-inch desktop printers that run all day, the platen is the first wear part to go. Keeping one genuine 203 dpi roller on hand means a two-minute swap instead of a dead printer. See our
POS printer accessories for the matching bearings and other ZD420 / ZD620 parts.
✓ Buy it if you have a 203 dpi ZD420d or ZD620d using standard linered labels and the roller is worn or slipping.
✕ Skip it if your printer is 300 dpi, linerless, thermal transfer or a ZD421.
