The Zebra P1079903-003 is the genuine replacement platen (drive) roller for the Zebra ZD410 and ZD411d 2-inch direct thermal desktop label printers, including the healthcare (-HC) versions, at both 203 and 300 dpi. It is the rubber roller under the printhead that pulls labels through the printer and presses them against the printhead.
A worn, glazed or nicked platen is a common reason for labels that skew, slip, jam or print with faint or missing lines. Zebra advises that if sticking or jamming continues even after cleaning, the platen must be replaced. This part lets you do that yourself instead of sending the printer away.
Before you order: This roller is listed by Zebra for the ZD410 and ZD411d. The larger ZD420, ZD421 and ZD620 use different platen part numbers, and the GK/GX series uses its own platens too. Check the model on the label under your printer before ordering.

What It Means in Practice
- Labels feed straight again and the printhead gets even pressure across the label, so barcodes print solid and scan first time.
- Zebra describes the swap in the ZD410 user guide: open the printer, release the platen and lift it out, then fit the new one — no tools needed.
- Before replacing, try cleaning the old roller with 99% isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free swab; replace it if jams or slipping continue.
- Keep a spare if the printer runs all day — a platen is a wear part and the printer stops when it fails.
What Will Not Work
- It will not fit ZD420, ZD421, ZD620 or ZD621 printers — they use the P1080383 / P1112640 platen families.
- It will not fit GK420d/GX420d or GK420t/GX420t/GX430t printers (G-Series platens are different).
- It will not fix a damaged or worn printhead — streaks that stay in the same place after a new platen usually point to the printhead.
- It does not include new bearings or a drive gear; Zebra sells the bearings separately.
