Zebra ZD621R — 4-Inch RFID Desktop Printer, 203 dpi, Wi-Fi 6
UHF RFID encoder203 dpi thermal transferWi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth 5.34.3" colour touch display
The Zebra ZD621R (ZD6A142-30ERR2EZ) is a 4-inch thermal transfer desktop printer with a built-in UHF RFID encoder and factory-fitted Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3, for retail, healthcare, asset tracking and logistics teams that print and encode RFID labels anywhere on the network.
It prints at 203 dpi up to 104 mm wide and 203 mm per second, encodes RAIN RFID tags with Zebra’s RE40 reader/encoder, and connects over Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, USB, Ethernet and serial. A 4.3-inch colour touch display shows status and RFID results at the printer.
Before you order: RFID encoding needs RFID labels with an inlay suited to your application and region. Send us your tag or label type and we will confirm it before you order.
What's in the Box
- Zebra ZD621R RFID printer (203 dpi, thermal transfer, Wi-Fi 6 / Bluetooth 5.3)
- External AC power supply with power cords (EU and UK)
- USB cable
- Empty ribbon take-up cores and two 300 m ribbon core adapters
- Quick start guide and regulatory guide
What It Means in Practice
- Print and encode in one pass: the printer writes the RFID chip and prints the label face in the same job, and RFID job monitoring with a timestamped log shows what was encoded and when.
- Wireless anywhere: the factory-installed Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.3 dual radio (MIMO) lets you place the printer where the work is — a stockroom, counter or trolley — without a network cable, and print from Bluetooth handhelds.
- Speed and labels: 203 dpi at up to 203 mm/s suits shipping, inventory, garment and asset labels with standard barcodes; tear-off delivers strips of labels for batch work.
- Ribbons: it takes both 74 m Zebra ribbons and 300 m ribbons (with the included adapters for non-Zebra cores), so high-volume users can cut ribbon changes.
- Media: labels 15–118 mm wide on rolls up to 127 mm diameter, 12.7 or 25.4 mm core (larger cores with an adapter kit). Minimum RFID tag pitch is 16 mm.
- Integration: ZPL II and EPL2 are built in, and ZPL RFID commands match earlier Zebra RFID printers, so existing RFID label formats carry over.
What Will Not Work
- Cutting or peeling: this is the tear-off version. Peeler and cutter are separate options.
- HF / NFC tags: the encoder is UHF only; it does not write HF (13.56 MHz) or NFC tags.
- Very small print: for tiny text or small 2D codes on jewellery or electronics labels, the 300 dpi ZD621R is the better choice.
- Wide labels: maximum print width is 104 mm; for 6-inch labels choose an industrial printer such as the ZT421.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which RFID labels can I use?
UHF EPC Gen 2 labels with inlays placed so the printer can encode them; Adaptive Encoding finds the best settings for new inlays. Send us your current label or inlay type and we will check it.
Do I need a network cable?
No. Wi-Fi 6 is factory-fitted, so the printer can join your wireless network; Ethernet and USB are there if you prefer a cable.
Can I use our existing ZPL RFID formats?
Yes. ZPL RFID commands are compatible with earlier Zebra RFID printers, so most existing formats run unchanged.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The Wi-Fi 6 ZD621R suits RFID roll-outs where printers move between stockrooms, counters and receiving areas: RAIN encoding and 203 dpi labels without a cable run. The inlay decides success, so order tested RFID
labels with it and run a sample before rolling out.
✓ Buy it if you print and encode UHF RFID labels in batches and want the printer on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth without cabling.
✕ Skip it if you need very fine 300 dpi print, peel-and-present dispensing, or labels wider than 104 mm.
→ Also consider tested UHF RFID labels and a 300 m ribbon — ask us for a matched starter pack.
Send us your label size, RFID inlay or tag type and current printer model, and we will check encoding and media compatibility before you order.
