Compact managed10G access with multi-gig copper
16×100M–10G RJ452×1G/10G SFP+VCStack2unitsNon-PoE /fixedAC PSU
The Allied Telesis AT-X250-18XTM-50 is the compact x250-18XTm managed switch for multi-gigabit copper access. Sixteen RJ45 ports support100Mbps,1Gbps,2.5Gbps,5Gbps and10Gbps, alongside two1G/10G SFP+ slots. AlliedWare Plus provides VLAN,security,link-aggregation and limited routing functions, with supported two-unit VCStack deployments.
Best For: Business and campus edge networks requiring10G copper device links, intermediate multi-gig speeds and administrator-managed network policies in a compact chassis.
Before you order: This18XTm is non-PoE and has a single fixedAC supply. The compact210mm-wide chassis needs a separate suitable kit for19-inch rack mounting;the18-port shipping list does not include rack brackets. Select compatible optics,DACs and stack topology separately. Physical VCStack supports two units;management grouping of more devices is a different feature. Q-in-Q,PTP,VLAN translation andOpenFlow options require the relevant separate licences.
What's in the Box
- x250-18XTm switch with pre-installed fixed power supply.
- Power cord,power-cord retaining clip and four screw-mounted bumper feet per installation guide.
- Rack/wall mounting kits,SFP/SFP+ modules,DAC/stack cables and console cable are separate;no optional feature licence is claimed as supplied.
What It Means in Practice
- Use compatible network adapters for100M/1G/2.5G/5G/10G negotiation. The installation guide specifiesCat6a for10G copper links up to100m.
- Configure VLANs,LACP,spanning tree, access controls and supported routing through the appropriate AlliedWare Plus management tools.
- Use the two SFP+ slots for suitable1G/10G links or supported stack links;reserve uplink capacity in the design.
- For a two-unit stack, verify compatible models, firmware and cabling. Up to40Gbps stack bandwidth refers to the manufacturer dual-link full-duplex configuration.
- Order the correct optional rack or wall kit and allow rear-fan airflow and AC-cable clearance.
What Will Not Work
- NoPoE output;attached devices require their own suitable power.
- The100M minimum is manufacturer documented;10Mbps operation is not promised here.
- No physical40G port or32-member physical stack is implied by series marketing or management grouping.
- Advanced optional features need licences;OpenFlow licences are not supported on a stack per the datasheet.
Key Features
Multi-gig copper
Sixteen RJ45 links cover100M,1G,2.5G,5G and10G with suitable cabling and adapters.
Managed network policies
4094 configurable VLANs,security controls and static/RIP IPv4 routing support planned business networks.
Two-unit stacking
VCStack can combine two compatible units;stack links consume network ports and require appropriate cabling.
Compact fixed-power chassis
210mm-wide grey chassis with one fan and internalAC supply;rack hardware is optional.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the switch supplyPoE?
No. The exact18XTm is non-PoE.
Is a19-inch rack kit included?
The installation guide lists no rack brackets for the18-port chassis. Order a suitable optional mounting kit separately.
Are all18 ports copper?
No. There are16RJ45 data ports and twoSFP/SFP+ slots. TheRJ45console is a management connection.
Can32units form one physical stack?
No. The physical VCStack reference is two units. Management grouping is a separate capability.
Are all advertised software features included?
No. The datasheet lists separate APP andOpenFlow licences. Confirm the feature and licence plan for the intended deployment.
Singular Expert Insight
Plan the port budget and mounting hardware before ordering. With only two SFP+ slots, stack design can affect available uplinks. Check exact firmware and licences for the required functions, and budget for the compact-chassis mounting kit and compatible optics rather than assuming they are in the box.
Buyer’s Guide
✓ Buy it if You need managed10G copper access with intermediate multi-gig speeds and supported two-unit stacking.
✕ Skip it if You needPoE,more than two physical stack members, included rack hardware or advanced licences bundled by default.
