The LANCOM SFP-LX-LC1 in bulk package 60185 is a pack of ten Gigabit SFP transceivers for single-mode fibre, reaching up to 10 km. It is aimed at campus and multi-site networks built on LANCOM switches, where fibre runs between buildings and several ports need the same optic. Each module is a 1000BASE-LX optic at 1310 nm with an LC duplex connector and digital diagnostics. In practice, single-mode optics are the choice when a link leaves the building or runs several hundred metres: the OS2 fibre used by carriers and campus backbones carries the signal for kilometres with little loss. Before you order, confirm the fibre is single-mode at both ends and note the length and the number of patch panels on the way.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This article is ten modules; the single article is 61557. It needs single-mode fibre at both ends and an LX 1310 nm module at the far end. It is not for multimode building cabling — use the SX version there. On very short single-mode runs LANCOM recommends a 3 dB attenuator per fibre, which is not included. Keep the dust cap on until you connect the fibre, and clean both connector ends before every mating — dirt is the most common cause of a link that will not come up. Not sure?
