The StarTech.com RJ45LOCKANDKEY is a pack of ten white RJ45 port locks with a security key. Each lock snaps into an unused RJ45 (8P8C) network port and stays there until it is released with the key, so nobody can plug a laptop or an unknown device into that port; the locks also keep dust out. They fit ports on switches, patch panels, keystones, wall outlets, laptops and desktops. In practice they close one of the easiest ways into a company network — a free port in a meeting room, reception or open rack — and make every controlled port visible at a glance.

Compatibility — check before buying:
They fit RJ45 (8P8C) ports only — not RJ11/RJ12 telephone jacks and not SFP cages. The pack comes with one key, and the locks can only be released with it, so keep it safe with IT; StarTech.com does not list a key-only spare. A locked port cannot take a cable until it is released. For full control, combine the locks with port security or disabling unused ports on the switch. Not sure about your ports? Send us the switch or outlet model and we check it.

Is the key included?
Yes. The pack contains ten locks and one security key. Keep the key with IT, because the locks can only be released with it.
Do they fit telephone sockets?
No. They are made for RJ45 (8P8C) network ports. RJ11/RJ12 telephone jacks are smaller and need a different blocker.
Can I use them on laptops?
Yes, on laptops and desktops with a standard RJ45 port. Slim fold-out ports may not hold a lock — send us the model if in doubt.
Is this a replacement for switch port security?
No. It physically blocks the port and makes unused ports visible. For full control, also shut down or secure unused ports on the switch.
