Kingston Server Premier 16GB DDR5-5600 ECC Unbuffered DIMM
16GB · DDR5-5600ECC UDIMM · 1Rx8CL46 · 1.1VMicron H-die
The Kingston Server Premier KSM56E46BS8-16MH is a 16GB DDR5-5600 ECC unbuffered DIMM (UDIMM, 1Rx8, CL46, 1.1V) for ECC-enabled Intel and AMD DDR5 workstations and entry servers — memory that detects and corrects single-bit errors instead of silently passing them to your data.
It uses ten 2G×8 Micron H-die chips: eight for data and two for side-band ECC across the two 36-bit sub-channels, on top of the on-die ECC that every DDR5 chip has. Kingston builds Server Premier modules to a locked bill of materials, so the components do not change between batches — useful when you add memory to a validated system later.
Before you order: This is an ECC UNBUFFERED module. It does not work in servers that need registered memory (RDIMM — most dual-socket Xeon and EPYC 9004 boards), and it is not a laptop SO-DIMM. Your board and CPU must support DDR5 ECC UDIMMs — send us the model and we will check.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Kingston Server Premier 16GB DDR5-5600 ECC UDIMM (KSM56E46BS8-16MH)
- No heatspreader, software or installation hardware
What It Means in Practice
- Real ECC: side-band ECC corrects memory errors at the system level, which on-die ECC alone (in consumer DDR5) does not report to the OS
- Runs at 5600 MT/s with CL46 at JEDEC 1.1V — no XMP/EXPO profile, no overclocking
- For workstations and entry servers on ECC-capable DDR5 platforms, where stability matters more than latency
- Install in pairs for dual-channel bandwidth; mixing with non-ECC modules disables ECC or prevents boot
What Will Not Work
- RDIMM-only servers — registered and unbuffered DDR5 cannot be mixed or substituted
- Laptops and mini PCs with SO-DIMM slots
- DDR4 boards — the DDR5 notch is in a different position
- Consumer boards without ECC support: Kingston only targets ECC-enabled platforms, so we do not promise it in a gaming or office desktop
Key Features
Side-band ECC
x72 module with two extra chips for system-level error correction.
Locked BOM
Server Premier uses fixed components, so later purchases match the original modules.
JEDEC 5600 MT/s
Standard 1.1V timings for stable 24/7 operation, no overclocking needed.
Micron H-die
Ten 2G×8 Micron DRAM chips, single rank (1Rx8).

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it work in my gaming desktop?
Kingston does not state this. Some consumer AM5 and Intel boards accept ECC UDIMMs, others do not or ignore ECC — check your board QVL or send us the model.
Is it the same as RDIMM server memory?
No. RDIMMs have a register chip and use a different key; this UDIMM fits only boards designed for unbuffered DDR5.
Can I mix it with other 5600 ECC UDIMMs?
Same-size, same-rank ECC UDIMMs normally work together; for validated systems we recommend identical part numbers.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
DDR5 ECC UDIMMs are the memory for Intel W680/Xeon E-class and AMD workstation boards that do not take RDIMMs. Kingston Server Premier is a safe pick because of its locked component list and lifetime term. Not sure what your board accepts? Compare with our
memory range or ask us.
✓ Buy it if your workstation or entry server supports DDR5 ECC unbuffered DIMMs and you want 16GB modules at 5600 MT/s.
✕ Skip it if your server needs RDIMMs, your laptop needs SO-DIMMs, or you want low-latency gaming memory.
→ Also consider 32GB Kingston Server Premier ECC UDIMMs for larger configurations, or registered DDR5 for dual-socket servers.
Not sure it fits your setup? Send us the model of your rack, switch or device and we will check compatibility before you order.
