Microchip PD-9001GS — 1-Port Gigabit PoE+ Midspan, 30W
IEEE 802.3at · 30W10/100/1000 Mbps1 port100-240V AC · EU
The Microchip PD-9001GS/AC-EU is a single-port Gigabit PoE midspan that adds up to 30W of IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) power to an existing Ethernet link, for powering one access point, IP camera, VoIP phone or other PoE device from a switch that has no PoE.
It sits between the switch and the device: data passes straight through at 10/100/1000 Mbps on one RJ45 port, and the output port carries both data and power. This is the EU model of the former Microsemi/PowerDsine PD-9001GS, with AC input from 100 to 240V.
Before you order: Full 30W output is rated up to 50°C ambient; between 50°C and 60°C the output is limited to 15W. Devices that need more than 802.3at (30W) will not power up.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Microchip PD-9001GS midspan, EU version (/AC-EU = EU AC power cord ordering code)
What It Means in Practice
- Use it to add PoE to one device on a non-PoE switch or router — typically a ceiling access point or a single camera.
- The power is negotiated: an 802.3af device draws up to its class limit and an 802.3at device up to 30W, so a non-PoE device on the output is not damaged.
- Gigabit data pass-through means the injector does not slow the link down.
- Two LEDs show AC power (blue) and port power (green), which helps when troubleshooting a ceiling device.
What Will Not Work
- It is not a switch — it adds power to one existing link, it does not add network ports.
- Devices needing PoE++ (802.3bt, 60W/90W), such as some PTZ cameras or Wi-Fi 7 APs, will not be powered.
- It does not extend the 100 m Ethernet distance limit; the total run from switch to device still counts.
- Non-standard passive PoE devices (e.g. 24V passive) are not supported.

Frequently Asked Questions
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Single-port midspans are the simplest way to add one PoE device without replacing the switch. If you are adding several cameras or APs, a PoE switch is usually cheaper per port and easier to manage.
✓ Buy it if you need to power one 802.3af/at device (AP, camera, phone) from a non-PoE switch at Gigabit speed.
✕ Skip it if your device needs PoE++ (802.3bt) or more than 30W, or you need to power several devices.
→ Also consider a PoE+ switch if you are powering three or more devices.
