The LANCOM 1930EF is a fanless 19-inch 1U SD-WAN gateway with six Gigabit Ethernet ports (one an SFP/TP combo), up to three WAN connections and 25 IPsec/WireGuard VPN tunnels out of the box, built for branch offices and SMEs that connect fibre, cable or DSL modems and want load balancing, failover and secure site-to-site VPN.
It also includes a Voice Call Manager and session border controller for SIP telephony, a stateful firewall with IPS, and zero-touch SD-WAN management via the LANCOM Management Cloud (licence sold separately). Made in Germany; LANCOM is now part of Rohde & Schwarz Networks and Cybersecurity.
Before you order: There is no built-in DSL modem and no Wi-Fi or mobile modem. For a fibre line you need an SFP module that matches your operator (GPON/AON etc., not included) or the operator’s ONT on an Ethernet WAN port. LANCOM supports only its own SFP modules.

What It Means in Practice
- Default port layout: WAN1 = SFP/TP combo, WAN2 = Gigabit Ethernet for an external modem, ETH1–4 = LAN; up to 3 ports can be WAN and every port is configurable.
- Fanless and low-power (max 18 W) — silent in an office rack.
- 25 VPN tunnels are included; options raise this to 50 or 100.
- SD-WAN, Auto-VPN and application routing require a LANCOM Management Cloud licence.
What Will Not Work
- Wi-Fi clients — there is no wireless access point built in.
- A DSL line directly (no internal DSL modem — use an external modem).
- Mobile (4G/5G) backup — choose the 1930EF-5G for that.
- Third-party SFP modules (only LANCOM SFPs are supported); no SFP module is included.
- ISDN or analogue telephone lines/phones.
