Dell UltraSharp U3225QE — 32" 4K IPS Black Thunderbolt 4 Hub Monitor

World's first 3000:1 IPS Black at 4K 120Hz — Thunderbolt 4 with 140W docking, 2.5G Ethernet, DisplayHDR 600, DP daisy chain and factory-calibrated colour in a 32-inch display.

IPS Black 3000:1 4K 120Hz Thunderbolt 4 140W DisplayHDR 600 · 2.5G LAN

The Dell UltraSharp U3225QE is a 31.5-inch 4K IPS Black Thunderbolt hub monitor, launched in February 2025, that sets a new benchmark for productivity displays. Its IPS Black panel achieves a 3000:1 native contrast ratio — three times that of standard IPS — making it the highest-contrast IPS monitor available at any size. Combined with 4K resolution at 120Hz, 450 cd/m² brightness, DisplayHDR 600 and factory-calibrated 99% DCI-P3 colour, it delivers professional image quality that approaches OLED contrast without OLED burn-in risk. A single Thunderbolt 4 cable carries 4K 120Hz video, 140W Extended Power Range charging and 2.5G Ethernet simultaneously, while Thunderbolt daisy chaining and DisplayPort out (MST) allow a second monitor to connect downstream.

Best For

✓ MacBook Pro and Thunderbolt 4 laptop users

✓ Creative professionals needing 4K + IPS Black contrast

✓ Dual-monitor setups via Thunderbolt or DP daisy chain

✓ Demanding productivity where OLED isn't practical

Key Features

World's First 3000:1 IPS Black

Dell's enhanced IPS Black technology triples the native contrast of standard IPS panels — deeper blacks, richer shadow detail and more perceived depth, without the burn-in risk or brightness limitations of OLED.

Thunderbolt 4 · 140W EPR

A single Thunderbolt 4 cable carries 4K 120Hz video, 140W Extended Power Range charging and 2.5G Ethernet — the full 140W covers even MacBook Pro 16" requirements. A Thunderbolt 4 downstream port enables daisy chaining a second display.

DisplayHDR 600 + 99% DCI-P3

600 nits peak brightness, DisplayHDR 600 certification and factory-calibrated Delta E<2 across 99% DCI-P3 and 99% Display P3 — professional colour accuracy for photo editing, video grading and design work straight from the box.

DP Out + Pop-out Front Hub

DisplayPort 1.4 out (MST) extends to a second monitor without Thunderbolt. Pop-out front ports (2× USB-C 10Gbps + 1× USB-A) give instant peripheral access, while four rear USB-A ports and a USB-C KVM port handle the full desk setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes 3000:1 IPS Black different from standard IPS?

Dell's enhanced IPS Black technology achieves a 3000:1 native contrast ratio — three times the 1000:1 typical of standard IPS panels and 50% higher than the 2000:1 of previous IPS Black generations. This means visibly deeper blacks, richer shadow detail and a greater perceived image depth, while retaining all the colour accuracy and wide viewing angles that IPS is known for.

Does Thunderbolt 4 carry 4K 120Hz video and 140W charging at once?

Yes. The Thunderbolt 4 upstream port delivers 4K 120Hz video (DP 1.4 with DSC), up to 140W Extended Power Range Power Delivery and 2.5G Ethernet simultaneously. The 140W EPR covers MacBook Pro 16" fast charging requirements — fully compatible with all Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 laptops.

Can I daisy chain a second monitor?

Yes — two ways. The Thunderbolt 4 downstream port (15W) supports Thunderbolt daisy chaining to a compatible second display. The DisplayPort 1.4 out port supports DP MST daisy chaining, so you can connect a second monitor even without Thunderbolt.

How does this compare to the U4025QW (40" 5K2K)?

The U3225QE has a higher 3000:1 contrast ratio vs the U4025QW's 2000:1, plus DisplayHDR 600 and a more standard 32" 16:9 format — better for pivot use and compatibility with common software layouts. The U4025QW is larger (40"), offers a 5K2K ultrawide resolution and 120Hz in a curved format. The U3225QE is the choice when IPS Black quality and Thunderbolt 4 matter in a traditional 16:9 size.

Singular Expert Insight

The U3225QE is the highest-contrast IPS monitor ever made at any screen size — 3000:1 native IPS Black brings it closer to OLED than any previous LCD. Pair that with Thunderbolt 4 at 140W, DisplayHDR 600, factory-calibrated 99% DCI-P3 and full daisy-chain capability, and this is the most comprehensive 32" productivity monitor available in 2025. Choose it over the U4025QW if you work in 16:9 and value pivot rotation; choose it over the U3824DW if 32" 16:9 fits your desk better than a 38" ultrawide. If budget is constrained, the U2725QE is the 27" sibling at significantly lower cost.

Buyer's Guide

Buy it if

You want the ultimate 32" productivity monitor — world's first 3000:1 IPS Black, Thunderbolt 4 140W, 4K 120Hz, DisplayHDR 600, 2.5G LAN and DP daisy chain.

Skip it if

You want an ultrawide format, OLED contrast, or built-in speakers — the U4025QW (curved 40" 5K2K TB4) or AW3225QF (QD-OLED) are the alternatives for those needs.

Also consider

Dell U2725QE (27" 4K TB4, same IPS Black 3000:1) for a smaller footprint. Dell U4025QW (40" 5K2K ultrawide) for wider workspace. Dell U3824DW (38" UWQHD, 2000:1, USB-C) for ultrawide without Thunderbolt.
