3M PF400W2E Full-Screen Privacy Filter for 40" 21:9 Monitors, 60° Side Privacy, Reversible Matte/Gloss, Black

The 3M PF400W2E is a full-screen, edge-to-edge black privacy filter for 40-inch 21:9 monitors that blacks out the screen for anyone viewing from the side, while the person sitting in front keeps a clear picture. It is aimed at offices, reception desks, banks, clinics and anyone who works with customer, financial or personal data in shared spaces or on the move.

The filter measures 948 × 401 mm (37.31 × 15.8 in), is used in landscape orientation and attaches with Large Display Attachment. One side is glossy and the other matte, so you choose between maximum sharpness and reduced reflections. 3M states that the filter helps reduce blue light without distorting the natural colours of the display.

• 1 × 3M PF400W2E privacy filter (948 × 401 mm, reversible matte/gloss)
• 3M attachment parts for this model — 3M lists large display attachment as the attachment method
• 3M does not publish an itemised piece count for the attachment parts or say whether a cleaning cloth is included

• Anyone sitting outside a 60° viewing angle sees a dark screen; someone standing directly behind you can still see it, so position your desk accordingly.
• Privacy is side-to-side only, in landscape orientation — it does not hide the screen from above or below.
• Expect the picture to look a little darker than without a filter; most users raise the monitor brightness slightly.
• Matte side out reduces reflections from windows and overhead lights; glossy side out gives the crispest image.
• The filter covers the full screen edge to edge, so it suits monitors with a flat front without a raised frame.
• To clean, take the filter off and wipe it with a soft lint-free cloth lightly moistened with ammonia-free glass cleaner.

• Touchscreen monitors — 3M lists the filter as not touch compatible; touch input will not work through it.
• Monitors with a raised bezel (frame standing above the panel) — 3M lists this model as not for raised-bezel screens; those need the standard B version.
• A different size or aspect ratio — the filter is cut to 948 × 401 mm and cannot be trimmed to fit another screen.
• Portrait (rotated) use as a privacy screen — the filter is specified for landscape orientation.
• Laptops, tablets or phones — 3M makes separate filters for those devices.
