The 3M Bright Screen Privacy Filter BP156W9E is a 15.6-inch 16:9 privacy screen for full-screen laptops with edge-to-edge (frameless) glass, using 3M Nanolouver technology to black out the display for anyone viewing from outside a 60° angle while passing on average 85% of the screen brightness. It is made for people who handle confidential data in open-plan offices, on trains and flights, and at client sites.
3M rates the Bright Screen line up to 25% brighter than other black privacy filters, so the screen stays readable without turning the backlight up. The filter is reversible — glossy side for clarity, matte side to cut glare and fingerprints — helps reduce blue light without distorting colours, and comes with 3M COMPLY Flip Attach so you can lift it up to share your screen and lower it again for privacy.
Before you order: BP156W9E is the full-screen version for 15.6" 16:9 laptops with edge-to-edge (frameless) glass. For a screen recessed inside a raised bezel, the bezel (B) version is the right one — BP156W9B (bezel version). Size and aspect ratio must both match your screen.

What It Means in Practice
- People beside you see a dark screen once they are outside the 60° viewing zone; you, sitting in front, see a normal bright image.
- With 85% average light transmission you usually need little or no extra screen brightness — useful when working on battery.
- Glossy side out for the sharpest image; matte side out when windows or ceiling lights reflect on the screen.
- Flip Attach lets you show the screen to a colleague and return to privacy in a second, without peeling anything off.
- At 0.290 mm thin and touch-compatible, it can stay on a touchscreen laptop while you use touch.
What Will Not Work
- It does not hide the screen from someone directly behind you — privacy works on side angles.
- It is not designed for screens recessed inside a raised bezel — use the bezel (B) version for those.
- Same diagonal but a different aspect ratio (16:9, 16:10, 3:2, 4:3) leaves gaps or overhang — both must match.
- It is a privacy and anti-glare filter, not impact protection — it will not prevent a cracked screen.
- It is not meant for external monitors; 3M makes separate monitor privacy filters.
