3M Bright Screen Privacy Filter for Dell multi-line 13 inch laptops with a 3:2 display
Privacy filter3:260° viewing angle3M BPNDE005
The 3M Bright Screen Privacy Filter BPNDE005 is a laptop privacy filter made for the Dell multi-line 13 inch laptops with a 3:2 display, for people who work with confidential information in open offices, trains, airports and cafés. It blacks out the screen for anyone viewing from outside a 60° angle to the left or right, while you see a clear, bright image straight on.
Bright Screen is 3M’s premium line: its Nanolouver technology gives about 85% average light transmission — 3M states up to 25% brighter than other black privacy filters — so you do not have to push the laptop’s backlight to full just to read the screen. One side is glossy for sharper colours, the other matte to cut glare; flip it to suit the room.
Before you order: This filter is built for Dell 13 inch laptops with a 3:2 screen. 3M does not list the individual Dell models on its page, so send us your exact Dell model and we will confirm before you order.
What's in the Box
- 1 × 3M Bright Screen Privacy Filter BPNDE005
- 3M COMPLY Flip Attach mounting
- 3M COMPLY adhesive strips
What It Means in Practice
- Anyone beside you sees a dark screen; anyone directly behind you can still see it — the privacy effect is left/right only.
- The COMPLY Flip Attach lets you flip the filter up when you want to share the screen, without removing it.
- Expect a slightly darker image than with no filter — Bright Screen minimises this, but any privacy filter reduces brightness a little.
- Switch between glossy (colour and sharpness) and matte (anti-glare) by turning the filter around.
What Will Not Work
- Laptops other than Dell 13 inch 3:2 laptops — 3M privacy filters are cut to a specific screen size and aspect ratio; a different laptop will leave gaps or not fit.
- Touch input through the filter — plan on using the trackpad or flipping the filter up.
- Vertical privacy — the 60° blackout works left and right, not from above or below.
- Using the same filter on an external monitor — monitors need their own sized filter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Bright Screen is the 3M line to choose if you work long hours behind a privacy filter, because it keeps the image noticeably brighter than budget black filters. Fit is everything with laptop filters — order by exact laptop model, not just by inches. For desktop screens, see our monitor privacy filters.
✓ Buy it if you own the Dell 13 inch 3:2 laptops and need left/right privacy without a dim screen.
✕ Skip it if your laptop is a different model or aspect ratio, or you rely on the touchscreen.
→ Also consider a magnetic universal filter if you change laptops often and want tool-free attachment.
Not sure this filter fits? Send us the exact laptop model and we will check it against 3M’s fit list before you order.
