3M PF190C4B Black Privacy Filter for 19" 5:4 Monitors
60° side privacy19" 5:4Adhesive strips or slide-mount tabsMatte / gloss reversible
The 3M PF190C4B is a black privacy filter for 19-inch 5:4 monitors that blacks out the screen for anyone viewing from the side, while the person sitting in front keeps a clear picture. It is aimed at offices, reception desks, banks, clinics and anyone who works with customer, financial or personal data in shared spaces or on the move.
The filter measures 377 × 302 mm (14.83 × 11.89 in), is used in landscape orientation and attaches with Adhesive strips or slide-mount tabs. One side is glossy and the other matte, so you choose between maximum sharpness and reduced reflections. 3M states that the filter helps reduce blue light without distorting the natural colours of the display.
Before you order: Two different 3M filters exist for 19-inch monitors: this PF190C4B is for the square 5:4 type (377 × 302 mm). If your 19-inch monitor is widescreen 16:10, you need the PF190W1B instead. Measure the visible screen area of your monitor (inside the frame) and compare it with the filter size 377 × 302 mm. The diagonal on the box is not always the exact panel size.
What's in the Box
- 1 × 3M PF190C4B privacy filter (377 × 302 mm, reversible matte/gloss)
- 3M attachment parts for this model — 3M lists adhesive strips or slide-mount tabs as the attachment method
- 3M does not publish an itemised piece count for the attachment parts or say whether a cleaning cloth is included
What It Means in Practice
- Anyone sitting outside a 60° viewing angle sees a dark screen; someone standing directly behind you can still see it, so position your desk accordingly.
- Privacy is side-to-side only, in landscape orientation — it does not hide the screen from above or below.
- Expect the picture to look a little darker than without a filter; most users raise the monitor brightness slightly.
- Matte side out reduces reflections from windows and overhead lights; glossy side out gives the crispest image.
- The filter is sized to sit inside a raised bezel (the frame around the panel); slide-mount tabs let you take it off and put it back without re-sticking.
- To clean, take the filter off and wipe it with a soft lint-free cloth lightly moistened with ammonia-free glass cleaner.
What Will Not Work
- Touchscreen monitors — 3M lists the filter as not touch compatible; touch input will not work through it.
- Monitors with a completely flat, frameless front — this model is designed for screens with a raised bezel; for flat edge-to-edge screens 3M makes the E / EM full-screen versions.
- A different size or aspect ratio — the filter is cut to 377 × 302 mm and cannot be trimmed to fit another screen.
- Portrait (rotated) use as a privacy screen — the filter is specified for landscape orientation.
- Laptops, tablets or phones — 3M makes separate filters for those devices.
Key Features
60° black-out privacy
Outside a 60-degree viewing angle the screen appears black, so people beside you cannot read what is on it.
Reversible matte / gloss
Use the glossy side for maximum clarity or turn it to the matte side to cut glare and fingerprints.
Blue light reduction
3M states that the filter helps reduce blue light without distorting the natural colours of your display.
Built for daily use
3M filters are made in the USA, 100% hand inspected and designed to withstand hundreds of cleanings.

Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The PF190C4B is the simple, proven way to stop casual "visual hacking" at a desk that faces a corridor, a queue or an open office. The deciding factor is fit: the filter must match your screen size, aspect ratio and bezel type, so check the dimensions before ordering. Browse all our monitor privacy filters if you need another size.
✓ Buy it if you have a 19-inch 5:4 monitor with a raised frame and work with data that people next to you should not read.
✕ Skip it if your monitor is a touchscreen, you need privacy from behind, or your screen size or aspect ratio is different.
→ Also consider the 3M E / EM full-screen and magnetic versions for flat-front monitors, and other sizes in our privacy filter range.
Not sure which filter fits? Send us the exact model of your monitor and we will check size, aspect ratio and bezel type before you order.
