StarTech.com 450C-USBC-HDMI-4K60G — USB-C to HDMI Adapter Cable, 4.5 m, 4K 60Hz with Gripping HDMI Connector
4K 60Hz · HDRUSB-C → HDMI4.5 mGripping HDMI plug
The StarTech.com 450C-USBC-HDMI-4K60G is a 4.5-metre USB-C to HDMI adapter cable that connects a USB-C laptop, tablet or desktop directly to an HDMI monitor, TV or projector at up to 4K 60Hz with HDR, without a separate adapter in the middle. It is meant for meeting rooms, classrooms and desks where the display is a few metres away from the laptop.
The HDMI end has a gripping connector that holds firmly in the display port, so the cable is less likely to work loose when people move laptops around the table. The USB-C end uses DisplayPort Alternate Mode, so it is also compatible with Thunderbolt 3/4 and USB4 ports. No drivers or software are needed — plug it in and the computer sees a new display.
Before you order: The computer's USB-C port must output video (DisplayPort Alt Mode, Thunderbolt or USB4). Charge-only or data-only USB-C ports will not give a picture — look for the DP or Thunderbolt symbol next to the port, or send us the laptop model.
What's in the Box
- 1 × StarTech.com 450C-USBC-HDMI-4K60G USB-C to HDMI cable, 4.5 m
What It Means in Practice
- One cable from the laptop to the meeting-room TV or projector — no dongle plus HDMI cable that can get separated or lost.
- 4.5 m reaches from the middle of a typical meeting table to a wall-mounted screen.
- 4K at 60Hz gives smooth scrolling and video on 4K monitors; 1080p and 1440p screens work too.
- Audio travels with the picture (up to 7.1 channels), so TV speakers or a soundbar on the HDMI chain play the laptop sound.
What Will Not Work
- USB-C ports without video output (many budget laptops, some phones and most desktop front-panel ports).
- The reverse direction — it cannot connect an HDMI source (console, camera, PC with HDMI out) to a USB-C monitor.
- Charging the laptop — there is no Power Delivery pass-through, so use the laptop charger on another port.
- 8K or 4K above 60Hz — the cable is specified for up to 4K 60Hz.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it work with my MacBook?
Yes on MacBook models with USB-C/Thunderbolt ports. Base M1/M2/M3 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro support one external display natively, so this cable will drive that one screen.
Does it work with a USB-C phone?
Only if the phone outputs video over USB-C (DP Alt Mode). Many Android phones do not; recent Samsung Galaxy flagships with DeX and iPhone 15 or later generally do.
Can I use it with a 1080p projector?
Yes. The cable negotiates the resolution the display reports, from 1080p up to 4K 60Hz.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
A single active cable is the cleanest way to give a meeting room a reliable laptop input — fewer parts to lose and no adapter hanging off the HDMI port. If the room also needs charging and network for the laptop, a dock is the better answer; see our
docking stations.
✓ Buy it if your laptop has a video-capable USB-C or Thunderbolt port and the screen is within 4.5 m.
✕ Skip it if you need charging through the same cable, an HDMI-to-USB-C connection, or more than 4K 60Hz.
→ Also consider shorter StarTech USB-C to HDMI cables for desk use, or a USB-C dock if you also need power and Ethernet.
Not sure your laptop outputs video over USB-C? Send us the model and we will check before you order.
