Ricoh ScanSnap iX2500 in White: 45 ppm duplex scanning with Wi-Fi 6 and a 5-inch touchscreen
45 ppm / 90 ipm duplex100-sheet ADFWi-Fi 6 + USB-C5-inch touchscreen
The Ricoh ScanSnap iX2500 is a desktop document scanner that scans both sides of a page in one pass at 45 pages per minute, built for small offices, accountants, home offices and anyone digitising paperwork every day. This listing is the white model. It loads up to 100 A4 sheets, connects by USB-C or Wi-Fi 6, and is driven from a 5-inch colour touchscreen with per-user profiles, so several people can share one scanner without changing each other's settings. Scans can go to a Windows PC or Mac, to a smartphone or tablet, to cloud services, or straight to a network folder without a computer in between. In practice this means you press one button and the scanner does the sorting for you: ScanSnap Home recognises whether the page is a document, a receipt, a business card or a photo, names the file, makes the PDF searchable and sends it to the folder, app or cloud account you chose. You do not need to learn scanning software or set resolutions, and the software is the same on Windows and Mac.
Before you order: ScanSnap Home is the driver and scanning software for this model: it supports Windows 11/10 and macOS Monterey 12 or later. The ScanSnap range is not a TWAIN/ISIS scanner for line-of-business capture software, so if your accounting or document-management program needs a TWAIN driver, ask us first or look at the fi-series.

What It Means in Practice
- A stack of 100 invoices scanned double-sided at 45 ppm takes a little over two minutes, and blank backs can be removed automatically. Remove staples first and the job runs without supervision.
- Each person in the office can have their own profile on the touchscreen, so scans land in the right folder or cloud account without anyone touching a PC.
- Mixed batches work: receipts, business cards, plastic cards up to 0.76 mm and A4 pages can go through in one stack, with the receipt guide keeping small slips aligned.
- Wi-Fi 6 with WPA3 lets you place the scanner anywhere in reach of the router; USB-C is there when you want a direct, cable-only setup.
- Long documents up to 3,000 mm can be scanned to a PC, which covers till rolls, statements and printouts that are longer than A4.
What Will Not Work
- No flatbed: bound books, stapled packs and very fragile originals cannot be fed as they are; fragile pages and photos need a carrier sheet.
- No Ethernet port: network use is over Wi-Fi only, so a site without Wi-Fi coverage at the desk needs a USB connection to a PC instead.
- A3 is not fed natively: the standard path handles up to 216 x 360 mm, and an A3 page must be folded into a carrier sheet and stitched by the software.
- It does not replace a production scanner: there is no published daily duty rating, so for thousands of pages per day choose a fi-series workgroup model.
- Don't accidentally order the black version (PA03860-B001): same scanner, different colour.
Key Features
Touchscreen with profiles
The 5-inch IPS touchscreen shows who is scanning and where the file will go, so shared use in an office is straightforward. This is aimed at offices that want results without training.
PC-free destinations
Save directly to cloud services or to a network folder on a NAS over SMB, without keeping a computer switched on. Files can be named and filed automatically by date or by recognised content.
Multifeed protection
An ultrasonic sensor plus length detection stops the job when two sheets go through together, so pages are not silently missing. This matters most in unattended batches.
Wide document range
Paper from 40 to 209 g/m2, sizes from 50.8 x 50.8 mm up to 216 x 360 mm, plus embossed ID-1 cards in landscape orientation. Thin receipts and thicker card stock can share a batch, which saves sorting time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can it scan straight to our NAS without a PC?
Yes. The scanner can save to a network folder over SMB and to supported cloud services directly, after a one-time setup in ScanSnap Home.
Does it work with a Chromebook or phone?
Phones and tablets connect through the ScanSnap Home mobile app; for Chromebooks and other platforms, tell us your setup and we confirm the supported route first.
Which roller set does it use?
The roller set is PA03860-0001, rated for about 200,000 sheets, so for a typical office it is a once-in-several-years replacement.
Is it a good fit for a reception or shared desk?
Yes, the touchscreen profiles are designed for that: each user picks their name and the scan goes to their destination.
