StarTech.com CMHOOK1UN5PK — 1U Vertical D-Ring Cable Hooks, 5-Pack
5 hooks1U each19" & 10" racksBlack steel
The StarTech.com CMHOOK1UN5PK is a pack of five 1U vertical D-ring cable hooks that bolt to the mounting rails of a 19" or 10" rack and hold patch cords and power leads in a neat vertical run beside your switches and patch panels. It suits anyone tidying a comms cabinet, a small server rack or an open 2-post frame where cables currently hang loose across the front of the equipment.
Each hook takes one rack unit, so you can place them exactly where cable bundles need support: next to a 48-port switch, beside a patch panel or at the top and bottom of a vertical run. The wide front opening lets you drop cables in and lift them out without unplugging anything, which is what makes D-rings practical for day-to-day moves and changes.
Before you order: Mounting hardware is not included. You need one screw per hook plus a cage nut if your rails have square holes — check that your rack uses M6 or 10-32 hardware and order matching cage nuts and screws.
What's in the Box
- 5 x 1U vertical D-ring cable management hooks (black steel)
- No cage nuts or screws — installation hardware is sold separately per StarTech.com
What It Means in Practice
- One hook per 1U position gives you a support point every 44.45 mm, so a vertical bundle can be held at as many points as you need.
- Cables drop in through the front opening — you do not have to unplug a cord to re-route it.
- Works on both 2-post open frames and 4-post racks, and on 10" as well as 19" rails, because the hook only needs one rail hole.
- Five hooks are usually enough for one side of a 12U–22U cabinet; buy two packs for both sides of a full-height rack.
What Will Not Work
- Will not install without hardware — cage nuts and screws are not in the box.
- Not a horizontal cable manager: it will not hide cables behind a cover or replace a 1U finger duct between switch and patch panel.
- Not designed to carry heavy power-cable bundles on its own; spread thick bundles over several hooks.
- Does not provide cable labelling or velcro ties — add those separately if you want a fully dressed rack.
Key Features
Vertical D-ring shape
Holds cables in a vertical run along the rails, keeping switch and patch-panel ports visible and reachable.
Wide front opening
Cables can be added or removed from the front without disconnecting the cord or opening the ring.
1U footprint per hook
Each hook uses one rack unit, so you place support exactly where the bundles need it.
19" and 10" compatible
Fits standard EIA-310 rails on both 2-post and 4-post racks, including compact 10" cabinets.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need cage nuts?
Only if your rack rails have square holes. Threaded rails need screws only. Either way, hardware is not in the box, so order screws (and cage nuts if needed) that match your rack thread, usually M6.
How many hooks do I need?
A practical rule is one hook every 2U–4U along a vertical run. For a 12U wall cabinet one pack of five covers one side; for a 42U rack plan on two or three packs per side.
Can I mount them on the rear rails?
Yes. The hooks attach to any standard rail hole, front or rear, which is useful for routing power leads to a rear-mounted PDU.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
D-rings are the cheapest way to stop patch cords sagging over switch ports, and on a busy rack they save real time during moves because nothing has to be unplugged to re-route a cable. The one thing that catches buyers out is hardware: these ship bare, so add a pack of M6 cage nuts and screws to the same order. For horizontal routing between a switch and patch panel, pair them with a 1U finger duct from our
rack accessories range.
✓ Buy it if you want simple vertical cable support on a 19" or 10" rack and already have (or are ordering) cage nuts and screws.
✕ Skip it if you need a covered horizontal cable manager between a switch and a patch panel — choose a 1U finger duct instead.
→ Also consider StarTech.com CMDUCT1UX 1U covered finger duct for horizontal routing, and CABCAGENUT6B M6 cage nuts for the hardware.
