Sony VPL-FHZ85 — 7,300-lumen WUXGA 3LCD laser projector
7,300 lmWUXGA 1920×1200Laser 20,000hHDBaseT
The Sony VPL-FHZ85 is a 7,300-lumen WUXGA (1920 × 1200) 3LCD laser projector for lecture halls, auditoriums, meeting rooms and houses of worship, where bright, low-maintenance installation projection is needed for many hours a day.
Its Z-Phosphor laser light source delivers about 20,000 hours (Standard mode) before brightness halves, with no lamps to change and automatic filter cleaning. A standard powered zoom lens (about 1.6×, throw ratio 1.39–2.23:1) is supplied, with powered lens shift of −5% to +70% vertically and ±32% horizontally, and six optional VPLL lenses for short or long throws. It accepts 4K 60p and 21:9 signals and offers HDBaseT, HDMI, DVI-D, VGA and BNC inputs.
Before you order: There is one HDMI input; the second digital input is DVI-D. For long cable runs, use the HDBaseT input with a compatible transmitter. If your throw distance falls outside 1.39–2.23:1, an optional lens is required.

What It Means in Practice
- 7,300 lumens stays bright in rooms with lights on and on large screens up to 600 inches.
- Laser light source means no lamp replacements — around 20,000 hours in Standard mode, 30,000 in Middle mode.
- Powered lens shift and zoom make ceiling installation and alignment quicker.
- One RJ45 cable via HDBaseT can carry video, audio, LAN and control from a lectern.
What Will Not Work
- It is WUXGA, not native 4K — 4K signals are accepted and scaled down.
- Only one HDMI input.
- Ceiling mount and HDBaseT transmitter are not included.
- Throw ratios outside 1.39–2.23:1 need an optional lens (sold separately).
