The Conceptronic ABBY14B puts a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port and four USB ports — two Type-A and two Type-C, all USB 3.2 Gen 1 at up to 5 Gbps — on the end of one USB-C cable. The Ethernet side supports 802.3bz 2.5GBASE-T with fallback to Gigabit, 100 and 10 Mbit, plus Energy Efficient Ethernet, 802.1p quality of service and 802.1Q VLAN tagging, which matters if the switch it plugs into is managed. Part number ABBY14B is bus-powered, weighs 48 g and measures 118 × 22 × 15 mm in black.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Getting 2.5 Gbit needs a switch or router with a 2.5G port and Cat 5e cabling or better — on an ordinary Gigabit switch it runs at 1 Gbit. Host must be USB-C; the 23 cm cable is integrated. It is bus-powered with no adapter and no Power Delivery, so it does not charge the laptop and cannot run power-hungry drives on its USB ports. No video output and no card reader.
