Good Connections LC-LC Uniboot Duplex Fiber Optic Patch Cable, OM4 Multimode 50/125, 3m, LSZH 3.0mm, Erika violet
The Good Connections LW-U803LC4 is a 3 m duplex LC-to-LC OM4 multimode (50/125 µm) fibre patch cable with a 3.0 mm LSZH jacket in erika violet, for connecting SR/SX multimode optics in switches, routers, media converters and patch panels.
Duplex means two fibres in one cord: one transmits and one receives, which is what almost every SFP module and media converter expects. The uniboot design runs both fibres in a single jacket, so the cord takes less room in dense patch panels. The LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) jacket gives off little smoke and no halogen gases in a fire, which is why it is the usual choice for offices, server rooms and shared spaces.
What's in the Box
- 1 × OM4 LC-LC uniboot duplex patch cable, 3 m
- Dust caps on all connectors
- Individual test report
What It Means in Practice
- Multimode 50/125 fibre is for short-reach optics at 850 nm: SFP and SFP+ modules marked SR or SX. Per IEEE 802.3, 10GBASE-SR reaches up to 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4; 1000BASE-SX reaches 550 m on 50/125 fibre.
- OM3 and OM4 use the same 50/125 core and the same optics, so this cord can be mixed into an existing OM3 or OM4 link; the link simply performs to the lower grade.
- LC: the small-form-factor connector used by SFP, SFP+, SFP28 and QSFP transceivers and most modern patch panels
- Colour code: erika violet is the usual jacket colour for OM4 fibre, so the run is easy to tell apart in a shared rack.
- Handling: keep the dust caps on until you plug in, clean the end faces before mating, and route the cable without sharp bends or tight ties — most "dead" fibre links are a dirty connector or a kinked cord, not a faulty cable.
What Will Not Work
- Single-mode LX/LR transceivers (1310/1550 nm) — they need OS2 single-mode cable.
- 62.5/125 (OM1) cable, couplers or older equipment ports — the core sizes differ and the mismatch causes heavy loss in one direction.
- Copper RJ45 ports — fibre needs an optical transceiver or a media converter at each end.
