The ALOGIC ULCAA-SGR from the Super Ultra range lets a USB-A drive, dongle or peripheral plug into a USB-C only laptop, using a short 15 cm braided lead instead of a rigid plug. Because the connector heads are joined by cable rather than moulded together, a chunky USB stick or wireless receiver hangs beside the machine instead of levering on the port, and the adapter passes USB 3.1 Gen 1 data at up to 5 Gbps with up to 3 A of current.

Before you buy: The adapter converts the connector, not the protocol: a USB 2.0 stick still runs at USB 2.0 speed, and the 5 Gbps figure applies only when the attached device supports it. It carries no video, so it cannot be used to reach a monitor.
