APC Back-UPS Pro 650VA (BR650MI) — 390W Line-Interactive UPS with AVR, LCD and IEC Outlets
650VA / 390WLine-interactive with AVR6x IEC C13LCD + USB
The APC Back-UPS Pro BR650MI is a 650VA / 390W line-interactive tower UPS for a desktop PC, home-office equipment or a small network setup. Automatic voltage regulation corrects sags and over-voltage without switching to battery, and a multifunction LCD shows load, battery and input status.
Six IEC C13 outlets suit computers, monitors and network devices with standard detachable cords. Over USB, the UPS reports to the operating system so the PC can shut down automatically when the battery runs low, and the battery can be replaced by the user when it reaches end of life.
Before you order: All outlets are IEC C13, not UK or Schuko sockets — equipment needs C14-ended cords. APC does not publish the split between battery-backed and surge-only outlets in the datasheet, so check the labels on the rear panel before plugging in critical equipment.

What It Means in Practice
- 390W of real capacity: a typical office PC with monitor, or a router, switch and NAS together.
- Output on battery is a stepped approximation to a sine wave — fine for most PCs; for active-PFC workstations choose a pure sine-wave model.
- Transfer time is 10 ms typical, 12 ms maximum.
- After a full discharge the battery takes around 12 hours to recharge fully per APC.
- The battery is user-replaceable — the UPS itself can stay in service for years.
What Will Not Work
- UK BS1363 or Schuko plugs do not fit the IEC C13 outlets — use C14 cords.
- Some active-PFC power supplies may not run reliably on the stepped-sine output.
- No external battery packs — runtime cannot be extended.
- Laser printers, heaters and other high-inrush loads must not be connected.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long will it run my PC?
Runtime depends on load. A 100–150W office PC with monitor typically gets several minutes; near the 390W limit it is much shorter. Send us your load and we will check APC runtime data.
Can I plug in a UK-plug device?
Not directly — use a C14 cord or an IEC-to-UK adapter lead.
Does it work with Windows and macOS?
Yes. Over USB the UPS appears as a battery, and the system can shut down automatically.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The BR650MI is a dependable APC unit for one workstation or a small network corner, with the AVR and LCD that budget UPSs skip. Use C13 cords and check which outlets are battery-backed. For the network side of your desk, see our
routers.
✓ Buy it if you need AVR backup for a PC or network devices under 390W with tidy IEC cabling.
✕ Skip it if your devices only have UK plugs or your PC uses an active-PFC power supply.
→ Also consider APC Back-UPS 500 (BE500G2-UK) for UK sockets, or Eaton 5SC 500i for pure sine wave.
Tell us the devices you want to protect and we will confirm runtime and cables before you order.
