Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter
Import photos and videos from a camera, or connect USB accessories to a Lightning iPad or iPhone.
USB 3 on iPad Pro 12.9" 1st/2nd gen + 10.5"USB-A portLightning pass-through charging
The Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter (part number MX5J3ZM/A) connects a digital camera, card reader or other USB device to an iPhone or iPad with a Lightning connector. When a camera is connected the Photos app opens automatically, so JPEG and RAW photos plus H.264 and MPEG-4 video can be imported and organised on the device.
Besides the USB-A port, the adapter has its own Lightning port: plug in a USB power adapter and you can charge the iPad at the same time and run accessories that need more power, such as USB hubs, Ethernet adapters, audio/MIDI interfaces and card readers.
Compatibility Note: USB 3 transfer speeds apply only to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (1st and 2nd generation) and the 10.5-inch iPad Pro; all other supported iPad and iPhone models transfer at USB 2 speed. Devices with a USB-C port (iPhone 15 and later, recent iPad models) need a USB-C adapter instead.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the MX5J3ZM/A work with iPhone 15 or newer?
No. iPhone 15 and later use USB-C, so the Lightning connector will not fit. For those models use a USB-C to USB adapter or connect the camera with a USB-C cable directly.
Why does the adapter have a second Lightning port?
It lets you connect a USB power adapter so the iPad or iPhone charges while the adapter is in use, and it supplies extra power for USB accessories such as hubs, card readers or audio interfaces that the device alone cannot run.
