The Apple USB-C to USB Adapter (MW5L3ZM/A) connects standard USB-A accessories — flash drives, cameras, card readers or a Lightning to USB cable — to a Mac, iPad or iPhone with a USB-C or Thunderbolt (USB-C) port.
It is the simplest way to keep using USB-A accessories after moving to a USB-C MacBook or iPad, and to sync and charge an older iPhone from a new Mac with its existing Lightning to USB cable.
Before you order: Apple lists it for: iPhone 15 and later; iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad with USB-C; MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio and Mac Pro with USB-C; Studio Display. Apple does not publish a data rate or power rating for the adapter; ask us if a specific device needs to run at full USB 3 speed.

What It Means in Practice
- Flash drives and card readers: plug USB-A storage into a USB-C Mac or iPad and open files in Finder or the Files app.
