Inter-Tech Argus IT-410-S — Gigabit LAN Adapter with a 3-Port USB 3.0 Hub
Wired Gigabit Ethernet3 x USB-A at 5 GbpsUSB-C plugAluminium, 55 g
The Inter-Tech Argus IT-410-S fixes the two gaps a thin laptop usually has at once: it adds a wired Gigabit network socket and three USB-A ports on a single USB-C lead. Inter-Tech publishes the parts inside, which is unusual at this level — a Realtek RTL8153 for the network side and a Genesys Logic GL3523 for the hub. The housing is aluminium with polished edges in a silver finish, 20 x 28 x 270 mm and 55 g.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Check the model number before ordering — the digit is the plug. In this family the IT-3xx models have a USB-A plug and the IT-4xx models have a USB-C plug, and the -S suffix only means silver. This unit is the IT-410-S: a USB-C plug in silver. Ordering the wrong digit means a connector that physically will not fit your machine. The network port is wired Gigabit, not Wi-Fi, so a live socket or a switch is needed at the desk. The unit is bus-powered over USB-C with no external supply, and there is no video output and no charging of the host. Inter-Tech lists Windows 7 to 11, macOS 10.6 or newer and Linux.
Best For
✓ Laptops and ultrabooks with no built-in network port
✓ Offices where a wired link is required by policy
✓ Video calls and file transfers where Wi-Fi is congested
✓ Adding three USB-A ports at the same time
✓ Machines that must be woken remotely — Wake-on-LAN is supported
✓ Site visits and meeting rooms — 55 g in a bag
Key Features
Gigabit on a Realtek RTL8153
Inter-Tech names the controller. The RTL8153 is the chip most laptop makers put in their own USB network adapters, which means mature drivers on Windows, macOS and Linux rather than a nameless part.
Three USB ports on the same lead
3 x USB-A 3.0 alongside the RJ-45, driven by a Genesys Logic GL3523. Mouse, keyboard and a flash drive stay connected while the network cable does its job.
Wake-on-LAN
Inter-Tech states WOL support, so a machine connected through this adapter can be woken over the network — the sort of thing that matters for maintenance windows and remote support, and that most cheap adapters quietly omit.
Aluminium, silver finish
An aluminium housing with polished edges rather than moulded plastic, at 20 x 28 x 270 mm and 55 g net. Small enough to leave permanently in a laptop bag.

Singular Expert Insight
Ethernet adapters are bought for reliability rather than speed — a wired link does not drop mid-call and does not compete with a crowded access point, which is why they are still specified for meeting rooms and finance desks. What lifts this one above the unbranded equivalents is that Inter-Tech publishes both controllers, RTL8153 and GL3523, so you can predict driver behaviour and repeat a compatibility test a year later. Wake-on-LAN is the other quietly useful item on the sheet. The one thing to get right is the model number, because the family runs four almost identical part numbers across two plug types. If the desk has no live socket at all, the missing piece is a network switch, and if a monitor also has to come off the same cable you want a docking station instead.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
Your laptop has a USB-C port but no network socket, you want a wired gigabit link with Wake-on-LAN, and three USB-A ports from the same aluminium unit.
Skip it if
Skip it if your machine has the other connector type — order the matching model instead — or if you need video output or want to charge the laptop through it.
Also consider
The Argus IT-310-S, the identical silver unit with a USB-A plug, if your computer has the other plug type, or a docking station if a monitor and charging need to come off one cable.
