The Argus ST-7211 is a 10G SFP+ PCIe network card that adds a 10 Gigabit SFP+ cage to a desktop PC, workstation or server through a PCIe 2.0 x8 slot. It takes a standard SFP+ transceiver or a direct-attach copper (DAC) cable and supports 1G and 10G. It uses the Intel 82599 controller. Low-profile bracket included. A dedicated network card is the usual fix when the onboard port has failed, when the machine needs a second, separate network, or when it should move to a faster link than the motherboard offers.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Check the slot: the card needs a free PCIe slot that is physically x8 or longer (x16/x16); it will not fit an x1 slot. Brackets: Low-profile bracket included. Transceivers are not included: the SFP+ cage needs modules or DAC cables that match your switch and fibre type. Operating systems listed by Argus: Windows 7–11, Linux.
