Assmann AK-219604 — Shielded Cat6A RJ45 Pass-Through Plug
Cat6A · 10GBase-TShielded 8P8CPass-throughSolid AWG 23/22
The Assmann AK-219604 is a shielded Cat6A RJ45 (8P8C) modular plug of the pass-through type, made for terminating solid-core round installation cable of AWG 23/1 to 22/1 when you build your own 10GBase-T patch leads or terminate a cable directly to a device.
Pass-through means the conductors are pushed all the way through the front of the plug, so you can check the colour order before crimping; the protruding ends are then cut flush by the crimp tool. This makes correct wiring much easier than with classic plugs, but it needs a crimp tool built for pass-through plugs.
Before you order: This plug accepts solid (single-wire) conductors of AWG 23/1 to 22/1 only. It is not for stranded patch cable, and it needs a pass-through crimp tool with a cutting blade (Digitus recommends DN-94025, not included).
What's in the Box
- 1 × Assmann AK-219604 shielded Cat6A RJ45 pass-through plug (sold individually)
- No crimp tool, boot or strain-relief sleeve included
What It Means in Practice
- You can see and correct the T568A/T568B colour order before the plug is crimped — fewer bad terminations on Cat6A cable, where conductors are thick and stiff.
- The shielded metal housing continues the cable shield into the connector; for shielding to work the cable must be shielded (F/UTP, U/FTP or S/FTP) and the far end must be grounded through shielded equipment.
- Rated for Cat6A / 10GBase-T link performance per ISO/IEC 11801 3rd Ed., EN 50173-1 and TIA-568-C when terminated correctly.
What Will Not Work
- Stranded (flexible) patch cable — the contacts are designed for solid AWG 23/1–22/1 conductors only.
- A standard crimp tool without a pass-through cutting blade — the protruding wire ends will not be trimmed and the plug may not seat in the port.
- Thin AWG 26/24 cable — the conductors will not be held reliably.
- Wall outlets or patch panels — for fixed installation you need a keystone jack or outlet, not a plug.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this plug on ready-made stranded patch cable?
No. Assmann specifies solid conductors of AWG 23/1 to 22/1 only. Stranded patch cable needs a plug made for stranded wire.
Do I need a special crimp tool?
Yes — a crimp tool for pass-through plugs that cuts the protruding conductors flush. Digitus recommends the DN-94025; it is not included.
Is this a pack of 100?
No. AK-219604 is sold as a single plug. Order the quantity you need.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Pass-through plugs are the easiest way to get Cat6A field terminations right, because you check the colour order before you crimp. The catch is the tool: without a pass-through crimper the plug cannot be finished properly. If you only need a few leads, ready-made
Cat6A patch cables save time and come tested.
✓ Buy it if you terminate solid AWG 23/22 shielded Cat6A cable and have (or will buy) a pass-through crimp tool.
✕ Skip it if your cable is stranded, thin (AWG 24/26), or you would rather not crimp at all.
→ Also consider ready-made shielded Cat6A patch cables, or a Cat6A keystone jack for wall/panel terminations.
