The DIGITUS AT-A 8/8 is an inline RJ45 coupler that joins two network patch cables end to end at Cat5e level — the simple fix when a cable is a little too short to reach a switch, PC or access point.
Both ends are RJ45 (8P8C) sockets wired 1:1, so it extends a straight cable without changing its pin-out. The white ABS body is small enough to lie behind a desk or along a cable run, and the contacts are gold-plated phosphor bronze rated for at least 750 mating cycles.
Before you order: Unshielded Cat5e: on shielded (STP/FTP) cable the shield is not carried through, and for Cat6 links choose a Cat6 coupler. It does not clip into keystone panels — it is a free inline coupler.

- Join two short patch cables instead of buying a new long one.
- Works for 10/100 Mbit/s and Gigabit Ethernet over Cat5e cabling; PoE passes through because every pin is connected 1:1.
- A crossover is not created — a straight cable stays straight, so T568A/B wiring of both cables should match.
- Each coupler adds a connection point; keep it to one per link for best signal quality.
What Will Not Work
- It will not mount in a patch panel or keystone wall box.
- It does not maintain shield continuity on STP/FTP cable.
- It is not rated for Cat6/Cat6A performance; a link through it counts as Cat5e.
- It will not repair a damaged plug or cable — it only joins two working plugs.
