Digitus OM3 LC to SC Duplex Fibre Patch Cord — 5 m
OM3 multimodeLC/UPC to SC/UPC5 m · AquaLSZH · Ø 2.0 mm
The Digitus DK-2532-05/3 is a 5 m duplex OM3 multimode fibre patch cord with LC on one end and SC on the other, for connecting multimode SR/SX transceivers, switches, media converters and patch panels. OM3 is laser-optimised 50/125 µm multimode for 850 nm short-reach optics (SR/SX transceivers) in the server room and between racks — the standard choice for 1G and 10G multimode links.
Both ends: LC — the small latching connector used by SFP, SFP+ and SFP28 transceivers and most modern patch panels; and SC — the square push-pull connector common on older switches, media converters, wall outlets and distribution frames.
What's in the Box
- 1 × DIGITUS OM3 multimode fibre patch cord, LC to SC, duplex, 5 m
- Individual test report — the cord is single-packed in a DIGITUS polybag (per datasheet)
What It Means in Practice
- Duplex means two fibres side by side, one transmit and one receive. The cord crosses Tx to Rx for you; if a link stays dark after patching, swap the two connectors on one end — it is the most common fibre patching mistake.
- 5 m is the right length between racks in a row, or from the rack to a fibre outlet across the room. Order the shortest length that reaches without tension — excess fibre has to be coiled in the cable manager.
- Route the cord with gentle bends and keep it away from sharp edges and door hinges; fibre loses light when bent too tightly.
- LSZH jacket — low smoke, zero halogen — the expected choice for offices, server rooms and public buildings.
- Keep the dust caps on until the moment you plug in. A dirty ferrule is the number one cause of high loss; clean the end faces if the ports have been left open.
What Will Not Work
- Singlemode optics (LR, LX, ER, BiDi) — they need a 9/125 µm singlemode (OS2) cord; multimode fibre does not substitute.
- Patching into an existing 62.5/125 µm (OM1) installation — core sizes must match end to end.
- Ports with ST, MTP/MPO, E2000 connectors — this cord terminates in LC and SC only.
- Green APC (8° angled) ports, as found on many FTTH/GPON terminals — this cord is UPC; you need an APC cord there.
- Copper RJ45 ports — fibre needs an SFP/fibre port or a media converter on each side.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it work with my SFP+ module?
Yes, if the module is a multimode SR/SX type with an LC duplex port. The fibre grade must match the optic: multimode optics need multimode fibre.
Can I extend it?
Yes, with a matching LC or SC coupler in a panel. Every mated pair adds some insertion loss — fine for short patching, but plan long links as a single cord or a permanent installation.
Can I mix OM3 with other multimode grades?
Yes, with other 50/125 µm grades (OM2, OM3, OM4): the link works and performs to the lowest grade in the path. Do not mix with 62.5/125 µm OM1.
UPC or APC — does it matter?
Yes. This cord is UPC (flat polish), the standard for data-centre and enterprise switches. Green APC ports need an APC cord.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Fibre patch cords are chosen by three things: the fibre grade (it must match the optics), the connector on each end and the polish. OM3 with LC to SC is the combination this cord covers. Need the active side as well? Browse our
switches with SFP ports and match the transceiver to multimode fibre.
✓ Buy it if you need a 5 m OM3 multimode link with LC on one end and SC on the other and UPC ports.
✕ Skip it if your optics are singlemode (LR/LX/BiDi), your ports are APC (green), or you need a different connector on either end.
→ Also consider the same Digitus OM3 cord in other lengths, or a OM3 LC to LC cord if one end of your link is different.
Not sure which grade or connector you have? Send us the model of your switch, transceiver or panel and we will check it before you order.
