ASUS AP1602 Backpack — 16″ Laptop Backpack, Dark Grey
Fits laptops up to 16″Just 0.38 kg emptyWater-repellent polyesterPadded back panel
The ASUS AP1602 Backpack, part number 90XB0A20-BBP000, is a dark grey everyday backpack for laptops up to 16 inches, and its headline number is weight: 0.38 kg empty, which is roughly half what a typical 16-inch laptop backpack weighs. The internal compartment measures 35.40 x 26.40 x 3.04 cm, with quick-access front and side pockets for a phone, a power bank or a water bottle, a top grab handle, a padded back panel and breathable shoulder straps. ASUS specifies the exterior as water-repellent and scratchproof polyester, and the bag measures 46 x 31 x 10 cm. The ASUS logo is offset-printed on the front. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Two naming points worth clearing up. First, this part is the ASUS AP1602 Backpack — some listings call it the “AP1602 Nereus”, but the ASUS NEREUS BACKPACK is a different product with its own part number (90-XB4000BA00060), sold in black, measuring 44 x 30 x 10 cm with a smaller 28 x 26 x 3.5 cm laptop bay. Our dark grey bag is the AP1602. Second, ASUS’s own term for the fabric is water-repellent, which sheds light rain rather than sealing against it; there is no rain cover and no IP rating. The laptop bay is 3.04 cm deep, so check a thick 16-inch machine against that. ASUS publishes no litre capacity, no denier, no tablet pocket and no trolley strap for this bag, and there is no USB port and no reflective element.
Best For
✓ Carrying a 16″ ultrabook without adding much weight
✓ Students who want a plain, light everyday backpack
✓ A second bag for travel that folds into luggage easily
✓ Anyone who finds most 16-inch backpacks too bulky
✓ Short commutes where minimal is better than featured
✓ Buyers who want an ASUS-branded bag for an ASUS laptop
Key Features
0.38 kg empty
The single most useful number on this bag. At 380 grams it adds almost nothing to what you are already carrying, which matters when the 16-inch laptop inside is the heavy part. Most backpacks in this size class start around 700 g and climb from there.
A 16-inch bay with real measurements
ASUS publishes the notebook compartment as 35.40 x 26.40 x 3.04 cm, so you can check a specific machine before ordering rather than trusting a screen-size claim. The overall bag is 46 x 31 x 10 cm.
Water-repellent and scratchproof exterior
ASUS specifies the polyester shell as water-repellent, and describes the exterior as scratchproof — useful on a bag that spends its life going into overhead lockers and under desks. There is no rain cover in the box.
Comfortable without complication
A padded back panel and breathable shoulder straps for the walk, plus a top grab handle for lifting it in and out. Quick-access front and side pockets take a phone, a power bank or a water bottle without opening the main compartment.

Singular Expert Insight
The AP1602 is what you buy when the bag is supposed to disappear. At 380 grams it is one of the lightest 16-inch backpacks you will find with a genuine padded laptop bay and a published compartment measurement, and the trade-off is exactly what you would expect: no trolley strap, no tablet slot, no reflective detailing, no litre figure. If you want a bag that carries a laptop, a charger and a notebook and then gets out of the way, that is a fair deal at this price. If you need a bag that organises a working life, look at a DICOTA Eco CORE or a Targus CityGear instead. One caution when comparing prices online: make sure the listing is the AP1602 and not the differently sized ASUS Nereus. Browse the rest of our laptop cases and backpacks, or the laptops range if you are matching a machine to a bag.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want the lightest practical backpack for a 16″ laptop — 380 g empty — with a measured 3 cm-deep padded bay, water-repellent polyester and quick-access pockets, and you do not need extra features.
Skip it if
You carry a thick gaming laptop, or you need a trolley strap, a tablet pocket, reflective elements, a USB port or a rain cover. ASUS publishes none of these for the AP1602.
Also consider
ASUS ROG BP4701 if your machine is a thick 17.3″ gaming laptop, a DICOTA Backpack Eco CORE for lockable and RFID-secure organisation, or a Targus CityGear TCG660GL for a padded 15.6″ commuter pack.
