ASUS ROG Sheath — Extra-Large Gaming Mouse Pad
900 x 440 mm440 mm deepAnti-fray edges3 mm thin
The Sheath is ASUS ROG’s original desk mat and it is still one of the deepest: 900 x 440 x 3 mm, where most full-desk mats stop at 400 mm. Those extra 40 millimetres of depth are the difference between forearms resting on fabric and forearms half on the mat, half on bare desk. ASUS specifies it as a soft mat with a cloth top and a rubber bottom, with a smooth surface for pixel-precise tracking, anti-fray stitched edges and a non-slip base. In the box: 1 x Sheath mousepad and 2 x ROG stickers. Plain black with the standard ROG artwork, no lighting and nothing to plug in.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Measure the desk properly, because the depth is what people get wrong: 440 mm is more than most desk mats and will overhang the front edge of a shallow desk. The width, 900 mm, covers a standard desktop. At 3 mm it lies flat and gives no cushioning, and there is no wrist rest and no lighting. Do not confuse this with the newer Sheath II XXL, which is 900 x 400 mm with a cooling fabric and a coating — the original Sheath is deeper but carries no nano-coating, so ASUS makes no water- or oil-resistance claim for it and publishes no washing instruction. Treat spills seriously. ASUS also publishes no weight and no speed-versus-control classification, and no warranty term for its mousepads.
Best For
✓ Deep desks that can use 440 mm of mat
✓ Setups where forearms should rest on fabric, not wood
✓ Low-sensitivity players who sweep the mouse widely
✓ Desks whose own surface tracks badly
✓ Optical and laser gaming mice
✓ Setups matching other ROG gear
Key Features
440 mm deep, not 400
The Sheath is deeper than almost every rival desk mat, which is what puts your forearms on fabric instead of half on the desk edge.
Anti-fray stitched border
A sewn edge on a 900 mm mat is what decides whether it still looks right in two years or has started unravelling at the wrist.
Smooth, for precise tracking
ASUS describes a smooth surface for pixel-precise tracking rather than a heavily braked or a slick one.
Stickers in the box
A small thing, but ASUS publishes the contents outright: the mousepad and two ROG stickers.

Singular Expert Insight
Depth is the Sheath’s argument and it is a good one — 440 mm is genuinely rarer than 900 mm of width. What you give up against the newer ROG mats is the coating, so it is a mat for a dry desk. See our mouse pads and wrist rests and our wireless mice.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want the deepest plain cloth desk mat ASUS makes, with a stitched border and room for both forearms.
Skip it if
Your desk is shallow, you want a spill-resistant coating, or you need wrist support.
Also consider
The ROG Sheath II XXL if you want the coated, cooling version, or the ROG Scabbard II Extended for a published nano-coating.
