ASUSTOR Drivestor 2 Gen2 (AS1202T) — 2-bay NAS with 2.5GbE for home and small office
2-bay NAS2.5GbEQuad-core 1.7GHzRAID 0 / 1
The ASUSTOR Drivestor 2 Gen2 (AS1202T) is a 2-bay NAS for homes and small offices, powered by a Realtek RTD1619B quad-core 1.7GHz processor with 1GB DDR4 memory and a 2.5-Gigabit Ethernet port, for central file storage, backups and media streaming.
Running ASUSTOR's ADM operating system, it shares files across PCs, Macs and phones, backs up computers automatically, and can transcode 10-bit 4K H.265 video for smooth playback on TVs and mobiles. Two drives can be mirrored (RAID 1) so a single disk failure does not lose your data.
Before you order: The NAS is supplied without drives — add one or two 3.5" SATA hard drives. To use the full 2.5GbE speed, your switch/router and PC also need 2.5GbE ports; on a Gigabit network it runs at 1Gbps.
What's in the Box
- ASUSTOR Drivestor 2 Gen2 AS1202T NAS (no drives included)
- 65 W external power adapter
- Full accessory list not published on the product page — ask us if you need cables or screws confirmed
What It Means in Practice
- RAID 1 with two equal drives keeps an identical copy — usable capacity equals one drive.
- 2.5GbE delivers roughly 2.5× Gigabit speed for large file copies when the network supports it.
- USB 5Gbps ports let you back up the NAS to an external drive.
- Memory is 1GB and cannot be upgraded — fine for files, backups and media, not for virtual machines.
What Will Not Work
- 2.5" SSD or M.2 caching — there are no M.2 slots, and ASUSTOR lists 3.5" SATA HDDs for the bays.
- RAID 5/6 — only Single, JBOD, RAID 0 and RAID 1 are supported with two bays.
- Memory upgrades or PCIe expansion cards — neither is available.
- HDMI output for direct TV connection — there is no HDMI port.

Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The AS1202T is a tidy entry into network storage: 2.5GbE gives it a speed edge over most 2-bay rivals, and RAID 1 protects family photos or office files from a single drive failure. Remember a NAS is not a backup on its own — copy important data to a USB drive or the cloud as well. Pick matching disks from our NAS hard drives.
✓ Buy it if you need simple, mirrored network storage and media streaming for a home or small office.
✕ Skip it if you need SSD caching, RAID 5 or memory for virtual machines and containers.
→ Also consider the 4-bay Drivestor 4 Gen2 (AS1204T) if you want RAID 5/6 or room to grow.
Not sure which drives or RAID level fit your data? Tell us how much storage you need and we will suggest a matching set before you order.
