Auerswald COMpact 2BRI Module — 2 Switchable ISDN Ports for COMpact 4000 / 5000

2x ISDN BRIExternal or internalS0 / UP0COMpact 4000 + 5000

The Auerswald COMpact 2BRI module adds two ISDN BRI ports to a COMpact 4000 or COMpact 5000-series telephone system. Each port can be switched individually: as an external S0 trunk (Euro-ISDN, point-to-multipoint or point-to-point) or as an internal port in 4-wire S0 or 2-wire UP0 mode.

Internally it powers Auerswald COMfortel ISDN system phones (1200, 1400, 1600, 2600) with full system telephony — a common way to reuse existing ISDN phones and cabling when migrating to a VoIP-based system.

Before you order: Compatible with COMpact 4000, 5000/5000R, 5200, 5200R and 5500R. It does not fit the COMpact 3000 or COMtrexx systems.

What's in the Box

  • COMpact 2BRI module

What It Means in Practice

  • Keep COMfortel ISDN system phones on 2-wire UP0 cabling while the trunk moves to VoIP.
  • Use one port as ISDN trunk and the other for internal phones if needed.
  • On the COMpact 4000 it occupies one of the two module slots.

What Will Not Work

  • Not compatible with COMpact 3000 or COMtrexx.
  • No analogue ports — for analogue extensions on COMpact 5000/COMtrexx use the 4FXS module.
  • Standard ISDN devices on a UP0 port need a UP0/S0 adapter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mix trunk and internal on one module?
Yes, each of the two ports is set separately to external or internal.
Do ISDN trunks still exist?
Most providers have moved to VoIP; the module is mainly used for internal ISDN phones today. Ask us about your line.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The 2BRI is the most useful module for migrations: VoIP trunks on the PBX, existing ISDN system phones kept on their cabling. For the LAN side of the system see our network switches.
✓ Buy it if you run a COMpact 4000/5000 and need ISDN trunk or internal ISDN phone ports.
✕ Skip it if you have a COMpact 3000 or COMtrexx, or need analogue ports.
→ Also consider the COMpact 4FXS module for analogue extensions on COMpact 5000/COMtrexx.
Not sure it fits your system? Send us the exact PBX model and firmware and we will check before you order.
