AXIS M7116 — 16-Channel Analog Video Encoder

16 channelsH.265 ZipstreamPTZ control1U rack or wall

The AXIS M7116 Video Encoder brings sixteen standard analog (PAL or NTSC) cameras into an IP video system through one network connection. Each BNC input is encoded at up to 720 × 576 at 25 fps (PAL) with H.264 or H.265 and Axis Zipstream, and a quad view at full resolution is available. Four RS-485/422 ports control analog PTZ cameras, and microSD slots and network storage provide edge recording. The 1U metal case mounts in a 19″ rack or on a wall with the included kit. In practice it replaces an old DVR and lets a site keep its analog cameras while moving to Axis Camera Station or another VMS. This article is the UK version.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Standard analog (PAL/NTSC) cameras only. HD-TVI, HD-CVI and AHD cameras do not work — for those, choose the AXIS P7304. The encoder has no PoE and runs from the included power supply; Axis publishes no audio input for this model. It is the UK version, a good match for Cyprus sockets. Tell us your camera models and we confirm the signal type.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my HD analog cameras work?
No. The M7116 supports standard PAL and NTSC only. For HD-TVI, HD-CVI and AHD cameras, the AXIS P7304 is the right encoder.
Can I mount it in a rack?
Yes. It is a 1U unit with a mounting kit for a 19″ rack or a wall included.
Does it need PoE?
No. It runs from the included power supply, max 26 W, and has no PoE input.
Why the UK version?
Axis sells the M7116 in regional versions; 02036-003 is the UK version, which suits the sockets used in Cyprus.
Singular Expert Insight
We suggest the M7116 when a site has many working standard-definition analog cameras and an old DVR to retire: one 1U box brings sixteen cameras into an IP system. If any cameras are HD-analog, add an AXIS P7304 for those. See our Axis IP cameras.
