The AXIS Safety Wire 3 m (part number 5801-971) is a pack of five stainless steel wires that secure a camera during and after installation. One end has a fixed loop, the other an adjustable loop with a plated brass wire lock, so the wire can be fixed to the building structure and to the camera and shortened to the length you need. AXIS lists it for its PTZ cameras and fixed domes in direct ceiling mounts or AXIS recessed mounts, indoors and outdoors. In practice it is the secondary fall protection that keeps a camera from dropping if the main mount fails or while you work on it.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Secondary protection, not a mount. The wire catches the camera if the primary mount fails; it does not carry the camera in normal use. AXIS lists it for PTZ cameras and fixed domes in direct ceiling mounts or AXIS recessed mounts. Ceiling anchors and screws are not included — choose them for your ceiling type. Not sure?
