Poly Blackwire 3215 — mono USB-C office headset with 3.5 mm plug
Mono · one earUSB-C + USB-A adapter3.5 mm for mobileCertified for Zoom
The Poly Blackwire 3215 (HP part 8X227A6) is a corded, single-ear on-ear headset with a USB-C cable, a tethered USB-C to USB-A adapter and a separate 3.5 mm plug, built for office workers and contact-centre staff who want one headset for the PC and the phone.
8X227A6 is the bulk-pack version of the Blackwire 3215 (retail part 8X227AA): same headset, simpler packaging. It is the standard UC model — certified for Zoom and Works With Chromebook — rather than the separately listed Microsoft Teams edition. It still works as a normal USB audio device in Teams, but it does not carry the Teams certification. Because it covers only one ear, you keep the other ear free for colleagues or a desk phone.
Before you order: This is the UC (non-Teams-certified) version. If your organisation requires Microsoft Teams–certified devices, ask us for the Teams edition of the Blackwire 3200 series before ordering.

- Travel case
- User guide
What It Means in Practice
- Plug the USB-C end straight into a modern laptop; use the tethered adapter on older PCs and docks that only have USB-A — you do not need to buy a separate dongle.
- The 3.5 mm plug lets you take calls from a smartphone or tablet with the same headset, so one device covers desk and mobile calls.
- The inline control unit gives you answer/end, hold, redial, mute and volume without touching the softphone window; LEDs show call, mute and volume state.
- Mono design: you hear the call in one ear and the room in the other — the usual choice for receptions, help desks and open offices.
- SoundGuard limits acoustic levels below 118 dBA to protect against sudden loud sounds; dynamic EQ adjusts audio between calls and media.
What Will Not Work
- No Bluetooth — it is a corded headset only, so it will not pair wirelessly with phones or laptops.
- Not Microsoft Teams–certified (this is the UC model); the Teams button and certification are on the Teams edition.
- Single ear only — if you want both ears covered for music or noisy rooms, choose the stereo Blackwire 3220/3225 instead.
- No active noise cancellation on the earpiece; the noise-cancelling applies to the microphone.
- The 3.5 mm plug does not drive the inline USB controls on a phone — call control on mobile is handled by the phone.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between 8X227A6 and 8X227AA?
Only the packaging: 8X227A6 is the bulk pack, 8X227AA the retail pack. The headset and accessories are the same.
Can I use it in Microsoft Teams?
Yes, as a standard USB headset for audio. It is not Teams-certified, so the certified Teams button behaviour is not guaranteed — choose the Teams edition if your IT policy requires certification.
Will it work with my phone?
Yes, through the 3.5 mm plug on phones and tablets with a headset jack or a 3.5 mm adapter.
