The BlueOptics J9150D-BO is a 10 Gbit SFP+ transceiver for multimode fibre, reaching 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4 at 850 nm over an LC duplex connection, with digital diagnostics. It carries the HPE Aruba J9150D coding, the 10G SR optic HPE lists for switches from the 2930F/M and 3810M to the CX 6100, 6300, 6400 and 8360. In practice, multimode optics are the cheaper choice for links inside one building: most server rooms and floor risers already carry OM3 or OM4 fibre, and the module plus a short patch cord is all a port needs. Before you order, check the fibre grade printed on the cable jacket and the real length of the run, including patch panels.
Compatibility — check before buying:
It is coded for Aruba J9150D (ProVision and CX). For HPE Comware switches the matching coding is JD092B, and for Instant On it is R9D18A-BO. BlueOptics notes that newer Aruba switches may reject the old J9150A while supporting the J9150D wherever the J9150A was supported. It needs multimode fibre. Keep the dust cap on until you connect the fibre, and clean both connector ends before every mating — dirt is the most common cause of a link that will not come up. Not sure?
