The BlueOptics J9151E-BO is a 10 Gbit SFP+ transceiver for single-mode fibre, reaching up to 10 km at 1310 nm over a duplex LC connection, with digital diagnostics. It is programmed with the coding of the HPE Aruba J9151E, so HPE Aruba switches, including the CX 8325 identify it as that part. BlueOptics builds it on its BO35J13610D hardware and backs it with a 5-year functional warranty. In practice, single-mode optics are the choice when a link leaves the building or runs several hundred metres: the OS2 fibre used by carriers and campus backbones carries the signal for kilometres with little loss. Before you order, confirm the fibre is single-mode at both ends and note the length and the number of patch panels on the way.
Compatibility — check before buying:
It is coded as an HPE J9151E, the current revision. HPE states the Aruba CX 8325 accepts only J9151E or later — this is the one to order for that switch, not the J9151D-BO. It needs single-mode fibre (OS1/OS2): the orange or aqua multimode fibre in many racks looks the same but will not carry this link. Keep the dust cap on until you connect the fibre, and clean both connector ends before every mating — dirt is the most common cause of a link that will not come up. Not sure?
