The BlueOptics SFP-10G-SR-BO is a 10 Gbit SFP+ transceiver for multimode fibre, reaching up to 300 m at 850 nm over a duplex LC connection, with digital diagnostics. It is programmed with the coding of the Cisco SFP-10G-SR, so Cisco switches and routers identify it as that part. BlueOptics builds it on its BO35J856S3D hardware and backs it with a 5-year functional warranty. In practice, multimode optics are the cheaper choice for links inside one building: most server rooms and floor risers already carry OM3 or OM4 fibre, and the module plus a short patch cord is all a port needs. Before you order, check the fibre grade printed on the cable jacket and the real length of the run, including patch panels.
Compatibility — check before buying:
It is coded as a Cisco SFP-10G-SR. Cisco also uses the SFP-10G-SR-S coding, and QNAP sells a module with the same name — BlueOptics sells each coding as a separate article, so check the label of the optic in your switch first. It needs multimode fibre (50/125 µm): it will not carry the link over the yellow single-mode fibre used between buildings. BlueOptics publishes 300 m without splitting it by OM grade, so check older OM1/OM2 runs with us. Keep the dust cap on until you connect the fibre, and clean both connector ends before every mating — dirt is the most common cause of a link that will not come up. Not sure?
