Brother BU-330CL Transfer Belt Unit — 50,000-page belt for the HL-L8000/L9000 colour laser family
Genuine Brother~50,000 pagesUser-replaceableColour laser
The Brother BU-330CL is the genuine transfer belt unit for Brother's HL-L8260CDW, HL-L8360CDW, HL-L9310CDW, DCP-L8410CDW and MFC-L8690CDW, MFC-L8900CDW and MFC-L9570CDW colour laser printers, rated by Brother at approximately 50,000 A4 pages. It is the part your printer asks for when the display shows that the belt is near the end of its life or needs replacing.
The belt carries the four toner colours from the drums onto the paper, so a worn belt shows up as colour misregistration, smearing, repeated marks or pale areas across the page. Replacing it is a user job: no engineer visit and no tools, and the printer counter is reset from the front panel afterwards.
Before you order: BU-330CL is for the HL-L8260CDW/L8360CDW/L9310CDW, DCP-L8410CDW and MFC-L8690CDW/L8900CDW/L9570CDW generation only. The older HL-L8250CDN, HL-L8350CDW and MFC-L8650CDW use the BU-320CL, which does not fit these printers.
What's in the Box
- 1 x Brother BU-330CL transfer belt unit (belt and frame assembly)
- Brother protective packaging; no toner, drum or waste toner box is included
What It Means in Practice
- Brother rates the belt at approx. 50,000 A4/Letter pages at 1 page per job, and approx. 130,000 pages at 3 pages per job — longer print jobs stretch its life considerably.
- If your office prints many single-page jobs (invoices, labels, delivery notes), expect to reach the lower figure.
- The drum (DR-421CL) and the waste toner box (WT-320CL) are separate parts with their own counters; replace each only when the printer asks for it.
- After fitting the new belt, reset the belt counter so the printer tracks the new unit correctly.
What Will Not Work
- It will not fit the older HL-L8250CDN, HL-L8350CDW or MFC-L8650CDW — those take the BU-320CL.
- It is not a drum unit or a toner cartridge; it will not fix faded colours caused by low toner or a worn drum.
- It does not clear a "Replace Toner Box" or "Waste Toner" message — that needs the WT-320CL.
- Resetting the belt counter without fitting a new belt does not restore print quality and Brother advises against it.

Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The BU-330CL is one of the three long-life parts in this Brother colour laser family, next to the DR-421CL drum and WT-320CL waste toner box. Most offices meet it once or twice in the life of the printer, so the main risk is ordering the previous-generation BU-320CL by mistake — check the model sticker on the front of your printer first. Browse our printer accessories and service parts for the matching drum and waste toner box.
✓ Buy it if your HL-L8260CDW, HL-L8360CDW, HL-L9310CDW, DCP-L8410CDW or MFC-L8690/8900/9570CDW shows a belt replacement message.
✕ Skip it if you have an HL-L8250CDN, HL-L8350CDW or MFC-L8650CDW — you need the BU-320CL.
→ Also consider Brother DR-421CL drum unit and WT-320CL waste toner box for the same printers.
Not sure which belt your printer takes? Send us the model from the label on the front of the printer and we will check it before you order.
