Brother TN3660XL — Black Maximum Yield Toner Cartridge
Approx. 25,000 pagesTop of the TN-3600 ladderISO/IEC 19752Drum DR3600 sold separately
This is the largest black toner cartridge Brother makes for its newer mono laser platform — Brother’s own label for the tier is Maximum Yield, above Ultra High Yield, at approximately 25,000 pages measured to ISO/IEC 19752. It belongs to the TN-3600 family used by the HL-L6410DN, HL-L6415DN, MFC-L6910DN, MFC-L6915DN and MFC-EX910. On a machine printing several thousand pages a month, a cartridge this size changes how often somebody has to walk to the printer, and per page it is the cheapest rung Brother offers on this platform. It is toner only; the DR3600 drum is a separate part with a much longer life.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The Maximum Yield tier is not available on every machine in this range, and this is where orders go wrong. It fits the HL-L6410DN, HL-L6415DN, MFC-L6910DN, MFC-L6915DN and MFC-EX910. It will NOT fit the HL-L5210DN, HL-L5210DW, HL-L5215DN, HL-L6210DW, DCP-L5510DW, MFC-L5710DN, MFC-L5710DW, MFC-L5715DN or MFC-L6710DW — those machines take the TN-3600, TN-3600XL and TN-3600XXL cartridges, and some of them the TN-3610, but not this one. There is a second trap as well: the older HL-L5000 to HL-L6400 and MFC-L5700 to L6900 machines use an entirely different family, TN-3430 to TN-3520 with the DR-3400 drum, and nothing crosses between the two generations. Check the model badge before ordering.
Best For
✓ High-volume mono printing on the HL-L6410 or MFC-L6910 family
✓ Departments that print thousands of pages a month
✓ Sites wanting the longest possible interval between changes
✓ Reducing the number of cartridge changes per year
✓ Lowering cost per page on a busy machine
✓ Keeping one spare instead of several small ones
Key Features
Twenty-five thousand pages, the top of the range
Brother labels this tier Maximum Yield — a rung above Ultra High Yield. The full ladder on this platform runs 3,000, 6,000, 11,000, 18,000 and then 25,000 pages, and this is the last one.
Measured to ISO/IEC 19752
The yield is declared in accordance with the international standard for monochrome page yield, on A4 or Letter single-sided pages, so it is directly comparable with other manufacturers measured the same way.
Fewer interruptions on a busy machine
On a printer running 4,000 pages a month, a 25,000-page cartridge is roughly six months between changes instead of six weeks with a 3,000-page one. That is the practical argument, alongside the lower cost per page.
Toner only — the drum lasts much longer
The DR3600 drum is rated at approximately 75,000 pages at three pages per job, or 45,000 at one page per job. It spans three of these cartridges, and the printer reports the two separately.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it fit my printer?
It fits the HL-L6410DN, HL-L6415DN, MFC-L6910DN, MFC-L6915DN and MFC-EX910. It does not fit the HL-L5210, HL-L5215, HL-L6210, DCP-L5510DW, MFC-L5710, MFC-L5715 or MFC-L6710DW — Brother reserves the Maximum Yield tier for the larger machines. And it has nothing to do with the older HL-L5000 to HL-L6400 range, which uses a completely different cartridge family. Send us your model number and we will confirm.
Is it worth paying for the biggest cartridge?
Per page, almost always. The saving compounds on a machine printing a few thousand pages a month, and the number of cartridge changes drops sharply — at 4,000 pages a month this is roughly two changes a year rather than thirteen. The only reasons not to are low volume, where the cartridge may sit for years, or a machine that does not accept the tier.
How many pages will I really get?
Brother publishes approximately 25,000 pages to ISO/IEC 19752, which prints a defined document set at around 5% coverage. Ordinary text and correspondence sit close to that. Documents with large solid black areas, heavy tables or scanned images will consume more per page.
Do I replace the drum at the same time?
No. The DR3600 drum is rated at approximately 75,000 pages at three pages per job, so it spans about three of these cartridges. The printer tracks and reports toner and drum separately and will tell you when the drum is genuinely due.
Singular Expert Insight
If your machine is on the list, this is the cartridge to buy. Brother offers five capacities on this platform and this is the top of them at approximately 25,000 pages — per page the cheapest, and by a wide margin the fewest interruptions. The one situation where a smaller cartridge makes sense is genuinely low volume, where a 25,000-page cartridge could sit in the machine for several years. The thing to get right is fitment, and there are two separate traps. Within this generation, Brother restricts the Maximum Yield tier to the HL-L6410, HL-L6415, MFC-L6910, MFC-L6915 and MFC-EX910 — the smaller L5210 and L5710 machines cannot take it at all. And across generations, the older HL-L5000 to HL-L6400 range uses a completely different family with a different drum. Both mistakes are easy to make from a spec list and impossible to fix once the box is open. Send us the model number from the front of the machine and we will confirm. The full range is in our
original toner section, and the printers in
mono laser printers.
