Datalogic CAB-501 — RS-232 cable with power for PowerScan 9500
RS-232 + power9-pin femaleStraight, 3.2 mPowerScan 9500
The Datalogic CAB-501 is a straight 3.2 m RS-232 interface cable with power and a 9-pin female host connector, listed by Datalogic for the PowerScan 9500 series industrial scanners and bases.
Use it to connect a PowerScan 9500 scanner or base to a serial (COM) port on a PC, PLC, terminal or industrial controller — the typical set-up on production lines and legacy systems that still talk RS-232.
Before you order: This cable is for the Datalogic PowerScan 9500 series (for example PowerScan D9531, PBT9501 and PM9501 bases). Check the host port: it must be a 9-pin male serial port to accept this female connector.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Datalogic CAB-501 RS-232 PWR cable, 9-pin female, straight, 3.2 m
What It Means in Practice
- RS-232 ("PWR") cable: Datalogic lists optional power supplies for the PowerScan 9500 on the same page (90ACC0350 12 V 5 A, which needs a region cord) — check whether your host port supplies power or a PSU is needed.
- Straight 3.2 m — suits fixed installations where the scanner or base sits a few metres from the controller.
- Replacement for a damaged cable on an existing PowerScan installation, without re-configuring the host side.
What Will Not Work
- USB or keyboard-wedge hosts — choose the USB cable for your scanner instead.
- Hosts with a 25-pin serial port — Datalogic offers CAB-471 / CAB-472 (25-pin).
- Scanners outside the PowerScan 9500 family — they use different cables.
- Handheld use with long reach — coiled versions CAB-434 (8 ft) and CAB-459 (3.6 m) are better suited.

Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
On production lines and older ERP terminals RS-232 is still common, and the right cable avoids adapters that fail under vibration. See our barcode scanner accessories for more PowerScan cables and stands.
✓ Buy it if you connect a Datalogic PowerScan 9500 scanner or base to a 9-pin serial port.
✕ Skip it if your host uses USB or a 25-pin port, or your scanner is another model.
→ Also consider Datalogic CAB-434 (coiled, 8 ft) for handheld use on the same port.
Not sure which cable your scanner and host need? Send us the scanner model and the host port type, and we will confirm before you order.
