Audio, video and antenna cables for TVs, sound systems, monitors, PCs and wireless equipment. 3.5 mm jack, RCA and optical audio cables, headset splitters and adapters, HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI and VGA cables, and TV and Wi-Fi antenna cables from Delock, Lindy, LogiLink, StarTech.com and Equip.
How to choose the right audio, video or antenna cable
- 3.5 mm: 3-pole or 4-pole. Standard stereo cables are 3-pole (TRS). Headsets with a microphone on one plug are 4-pole (TRRS). A PC with separate headphone and microphone sockets needs a headset splitter.
- RCA (red and white) is the stereo connection on amplifiers, older TVs and hi-fi. A 3.5 mm to 2x RCA cable connects a phone or PC to them.
- Optical (Toslink) carries digital sound from a TV, console or player to a soundbar or receiver. Some laptops and players use a mini-Toslink socket that looks like a 3.5 mm jack.
- Video: match connector and resolution. For 4K at 120 Hz or 8K use Ultra High Speed HDMI or DisplayPort 1.4 or newer. DisplayPort to HDMI cables work in one direction only, from the DisplayPort source to the HDMI screen. VGA is analog and carries no sound.
- TV and Wi-Fi antennas are different. TV aerial cables are 75 Ω (IEC or F). Wi-Fi and 4G/5G antennas are 50 Ω with SMA or RP-SMA. SMA and RP-SMA look alike but do not fit each other.
- Length and quality. Keep analog audio and VGA runs short to avoid hum and blur. For long HDMI runs choose an active or fibre cable.
