The Canon RU-42 is the optional multifunction roll unit for 44-inch imagePROGRAF TX printers such as the TX-4100 and TX-4200, working either as a second roll feed or as a take-up reel.
As a second roll it lets you keep two media loaded with automatic switching; as a take-up unit it winds long or unattended prints neatly instead of letting them fall into the basket.
Before you order: The RU-42 is for 44-inch TX models. 24-inch TX printers use the RU-22, 36-inch TX-3000 uses the RU-32, and the PRO series uses RU-41 / RU-43.

- Two rolls loaded with automatic switching — for example, a plain paper roll and a coated roll, or the same media for long jobs.
- Bi-directional take-up: winds the printed side inside or outside.
- Printer roll specs: max. roll diameter 170 mm, 2" / 3" cores, media width 152.4–1118 mm (per Canon TX-4100/4200 specifications).
- Canon's TX-4100 weight of 114 kg includes the roll holder set and roll unit — plan floor space and handling accordingly.
What Will Not Work
- 24-inch TX-2000 / TX-2100 — use RU-22.
- 36-inch TX-3000 — use RU-32.
- imagePROGRAF PRO-4000 (RU-41) or PRO-4100 (RU-43).
