Canon GI-50 M (3404C001) is the genuine magenta ink refill bottle for the Canon PIXMA G5050, G6050 and G7050 MegaTank printers, rated by Canon at up to 7,700 A4 colour pages with a full set of colour bottles.

PIXMA G MegaTank printers have refillable ink tanks instead of cartridges. You refill each colour from its own bottle when the tank runs low; this bottle refills the magenta tank. It is Canon's own ink, the one the printer's colour profiles and print-quality settings are tuned for.

• Single bottle only — the printer, the other colours and the GI-50 PGBK black bottle are not included

• The 7,700-page figure is Canon's estimate for a set of colour bottles, measured with the ISO/IEC 24712 colour chart after initial setup. Pages with photos or large coloured areas use more ink.
• The no-squeeze bottle with a hinged cap is designed for mess-free refilling and reduces the risk of spills.
• Fill one colour at a time and only into the tank marked magenta. Close the tank cap before opening the next colour.
• When the printer was first set up, part of the ink went into filling the printhead and supply lines. Replacement bottles therefore go further than the first set did.
• Store spare bottles sealed and upright, away from heat and direct sunlight, until you need them.

• It will not fit PIXMA G printers that use GI-51, GI-41 or GI-490 bottles, or MAXIFY GX printers that use GI-56.
• It is magenta only — the GI-50 PGBK black and the other colours are separate bottles.
• It cannot be used in cartridge-based PIXMA or MAXIFY printers.
• It does not fix a clogged printhead; run the printer's cleaning function first if the print shows streaks.
