• Canon rates large-format cartridges by volume (8 ml black · 8 ml colour), not by pages — how far it goes depends on the size of your prints and how much of the sheet is covered. Line drawings and CAD plots use little ink; full-colour posters and renders use a lot.
• PG-540 and CL-541 are FINE cartridges — the print head is built into each cartridge, so a new pair also renews the nozzles.
• Square 13×13 cm paper suits social-media style prints; set the paper size in the print dialog or Canon app before printing.
• These are the standard-size PG-540 and CL-541, not the XL versions.
• The printhead is built into the cartridge, so every new cartridge also brings fresh nozzles. If prints are streaky and cleaning cycles do not help, a new cartridge usually fixes it.
• Installing takes a minute: open the cartridge access door, wait for the carriage to stop, press down on the old cartridge to release it, pull the pink or orange tape off the new cartridge without touching the copper contacts or nozzles, and slide it in until it clicks.
• Keep spare cartridges sealed in their box at room temperature and install them before the date printed on the packaging; an opened cartridge is best used rather than stored.
