CHERRY G84-4100 Compact Keyboard — 83 Keys, US International, Grey
83 keys in 282 mmGold CrosspointUSB plug and playIndustrial classic
The CHERRY G84-4100 (G84-4100LCMUS-0) is the compact keyboard CHERRY has been building for machine control, laboratory benches, cash desks and 19-inch racks for decades: 83 keys in a 282 × 132 mm footprint only 26 mm high, on individual keys with Gold Crosspoint contacts — CHERRY MX technology — rather than a membrane sheet. It plugs into USB and works with the operating system’s own driver, with nothing to install. This part number is the US International layout in grey. In the box: keyboard with fixed cable and manual.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a compact 83-key keyboard: there is no numeric keypad and no separate cursor block in the standard positions, so number entry uses the top row or the Fn-layer. CHERRY lists the interface as USB-A and Windows as the supported operating system; it follows standard HID, so it types on macOS and Linux too. Keys are not backlit, keycaps are ABS, and CHERRY does not list N-key rollover or anti-ghosting — this is a control and data-entry keyboard, not a gaming board. The tight 282 mm layout means narrower key spacing than a desk keyboard; if you type long documents all day, a full-size CHERRY STREAM is more comfortable.
Best For
✓ 19-inch racks, control cabinets and machine panels
✓ Laboratory and workshop benches with no room to spare
✓ Cash desks and point-of-sale positions
✓ Industrial PCs and embedded terminals
✓ Fleets that want the same keyboard available for years
✓ Anyone replacing an ageing G84 with the identical model
Key Features
83 keys in 282 mm
A complete alphanumeric layout with function row in a compact body that fits where a normal keyboard does not, at only 26 mm high.
Gold Crosspoint contacts
Individual key contacts using CHERRY MX technology rather than a shared membrane — the reason this design has stayed in production so long.
Plug and play
USB-A with the operating system’s standard driver: no software, no configuration, nothing to break on a locked-down machine.
Built to be replaced like for like
A long-life industrial part number, so a failed unit can be swapped for the same model years later.

Singular Expert Insight
Specify the G84-4100 when the space is fixed and the keyboard has to keep working for years — racks, panels, benches and tills. For a desk, a full-size CHERRY STREAM costs less and types better. Check the layout and the colour before ordering: grey and black are different part numbers with the same body. See our keyboards and tell us the installation and we will confirm the variant.
