The CHERRY KC 1000 (JK-0800EU-2) is the plainest keyboard CHERRY makes and one of the best-value things on this page: a full-size 105-key board with a numeric pad, four hotkeys for the calculator, e-mail, browser and standby, and three blue status LEDs. What separates it from a generic office board is what CHERRY does to the keys — laser-etched labelling rather than printed legends, so the letters are still readable after years on a shared desk, and rubberdome switches rated for up to 10 million actuations with 2.8 mm of pre-travel at a light 55 cN. It is GS certified for professional office use, measures 458 × 170 × 20 mm with integrated tilt feet, and connects over USB-A on a 180 cm cable drawing at most 50 mA. In the box: keyboard and manual.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Layout: This is the US QWERTY layout with the Euro symbol added — the layout most people in Cyprus type on. Wide Enter key, @ above 2, and letters and numbers where an English speaker expects them. This is a wired USB-A keyboard, so there is nothing to charge or pair and it works in the BIOS and in boot menus — the reason IT departments keep buying wired boards. There is no wireless option, no Bluetooth, no backlight, no N-key rollover or anti-ghosting, no USB hub and no palm rest. CHERRY lists Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11 and says nothing either way about macOS or Linux; the free CHERRY KEYS utility remaps keys on Windows. CHERRY publishes no weight, no total key travel and no spill or IP rating for the KC 1000, so those are left out here rather than guessed — if a spill rating decides your purchase, ask us and we will suggest a board that publishes one.
