The Chillax DM688 Giraffe Clip Portable is a video baby monitor with a 5-inch parent unit and a giraffe camera that has its own built-in battery, so it keeps watching during a power cut and goes with you to the pushchair, the car seat stop at grandma’s or a hotel room — for parents who want the clip-on Giraffe design without being tied to a socket.
The camera sits on a flexible neck with a multipurpose clip base: clip it to a cot rail, shelf or pushchair frame and bend it to a top-down view. It connects directly to the parent unit, and Chillax rates that link at up to about 360 m (1,200 ft) in open field. Infrared night vision is tuned for low grain and a brighter picture in a dark room, and an auto-dimming LED keeps the camera from lighting up the nursery.
Wi-Fi is optional. With it on, the ChillaxCare app adds remote viewing, sharing with family, sound and motion alerts and a baby journal; with the camera’s Wi-Fi switch off, the monitor becomes a closed local system between camera and parent unit.
Before you order: Do not confuse it with the DM685 Giraffe Clip, which looks the same but has no battery in the camera. The DM688 is not compatible with the older DM680 cameras or parent units.
